Awaiting biopsy results. What are next steps?
Hi. I posted on the Advanced Cancer network a few months ago. My husband has had a rising PSA for about 4-5 years. He is 49 now. He has had one biopsy about 2.5-3 years ago. That one didn't show any cancer. Then, he had an MRI last January b/c the PSA was still rising (it was 4.9 after being 2 something

Insurance denied IMRT!
Has anyone ever been denied IMRT by insurance?! It has now been several weeks since we found out my dad’s tumor pressing on his heart is no longer stable and is slowly enlarging. So far from 4.2 to 4.9 cm but that was several weeks ago and could be changed by now. He has a 5 inch blood clot because

Radiation dilemma! IMRT vs Proton
Hi, I have another radiation question if anyone has any opinions or help that would be greatly appreciated! The mapping is complete now for my dad and the tumor next to his heart causing the SVC syndrome. The verdict came back that on paper it shows IMRT would be slightly less radiation to the heart

Proton therapy
With the help of several people on here (you all are great!!) I urged my dad to push for proton therapy over the IMRT that was suggested for chest tumor. We did last week and tomorrow he is set to begin mapping for proton therapy to the chest tumor (4.9 cm) by his heart! I anticipated this would move

Bobs introduction
Hi I’m Bob I had a Gleason of 3+4 three years ago. I had proton therapy and had a PSA of .09 for three years and two months ago a 16. Started on A DT and now after three weeks, at 7. Looking into castration as don’t want the side effects of oral meds. Also I am 88 so it comes with the territory but I

Not diagnosed yet, but in research mode...looking at proton therapy especially
My husband is 48 years old and his PSA has risen since he first got tested for it about six years ago. He had a biopsy two years ago that was negative. He doesn't have a family history of prostate cancer, but his mother did have breast cancer. Then, this past January, his PSA rose again (I think from

Dad having severe SOB after 1 Alimta maintenance infusion
Hi, if anyone has any insight to this I would appreciate it! My dad has SVC syndrome with the mass pressing a bit on his right ventricle of the heart and some narrowing of the bronchus. He has stage IV NSCLC (one mass in upper right lung with some plueral effusion spread as well as spread to both adrenals

Coming to terms with prostate cancer not easy
I am finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with the news that I have prostate cancer. I am nearly 64 and my PSA level was found to be at 6.6 in May 2018. After an MRI scan, and transperineal biopsy on 20 June, my urologist told me my Gleason score was 4+3, stage T2b, with intermediate risk

Need help with Lupron question
As some of you know I’m Gleason 3+4. Will have TURP in August and then 28 sessions of proton therapy starting in November. My close friend was diagnosed 4+3 shortly after. He’s being told by 3 oncologists (IMRT/proton) that it would be best to do 4 months of Lupron plus the radiation. Other testing

Just the beginning
Hi, I’m John, 73 yrs old, G7(3+4), T2a, no mets, PSA 12. Dx Feb 2017, AS since. I’m learning about all of my options while following AS. My PCa is not very aggressive, but I’m not sure what, if any, action would be more beneficial than debilitating. I’m considering Proton Therapy, but holding off as

TURP
About time bark in proton therapy (well pretty sure anyway) and my urologist says I need a TURP for my BPH. I’m sure I do need but hers my question. I know everyone says definitely get TURP prior to conventional external beam therapy in order to minimize adverse effects urinating during treatment plus

Circling for ideas & next steps - not ready to give up!
Hi a few weeks ago I posted that instead of moving forward to the LOGS MEK inhibitor trial, my low grade OC had accelerated and broken lose. Suddenly even as a low responder to chemo, I was on the dose dense Rotterdam regime of weekly cisplatin and daily etoposide to try and stabilise me. Some great

Hi guys! Heard about this forum from Allen Edel on another forum. He’s been super helpful. Completed my second week of radiation of an eight and a half week treatment schedule. Was going to get Proton therapy and went thru all the prep/procedures only to find out later that my insurance wouldn’t cover

treatment choices
I'm new here. I am the wife of the sweetest fellow I know. He has prostate cancer. Has anyone had proton beam therapy? It seems our insurance won't cover it because it is experimental???? I thought it had been around for a while.
