Cold/allergy/asthma?
Last week I started with what I thought was a cold, blocked up nose, chesty cough, but I wonder now as the blocked nose comes and goes. I do however now have a trickle down my throat which is pretty gross. Chesty cough is productive but doesn't look infected. Coinciding with that, I've been feeling

Introduction; New here, and to asthma... Kind of! Relieved in one sense and scared on the other.
Hi everyone, I'm here after quite a revelation over the past few weeks, which unfortunately, like so much in life is incredibly complicated. I was heavily abused from birth onwards in many forms, by different people so all of this gets confusing. I was literally told that I was attention seeking and

Copd at 35?
Hi, recently been having shortness of breath and tight chest problems that came in very suddenly. I smoked for 20 years, quit 2 years ago. Been running 25 miles a week since. Never felt breathless until suddenly 6 weeks ago, and hasn't gone away. Due for pft and spirometry next week. Could this be copd

Newly diagnosed
Hi everyone, I’ve just been diagnosed with asthma today after a recent trip to the doctors. A few weekends ago, I felt severely out of breath and couldn’t even walk slowly whilst trying to talk at the same time. This was completely unusual and so when I still felt this ill on the Monday, I took a trip

Xolair
I have just had my third injection of this trial. My peak flow this morning was 170 at the hospital, and now 220, this includes three days of prenisolone. Question is what is the next options after xolair?

Diurnal Variation (pt.2)
I hope it's OK to post this, but some of you might recall that there was a thread on here a while back about diurnal variation - the extent to which peak flow varies through the day & over a series of days, & the somewhat complicated Maths used to work it out. Myself & anjyil said we'd have a look

Beginning to despair
I have been unwell for about nine weeks, off work feeling very unwell. I've been to see my GP seven times over this period and have not seen the same doctor twice, on my last visit the doc decided to ask the chest clinic to see me. I went today, I was due to have my xolair injections so I saw the asthma

Taking so long to recover
After being on hdu last week with my asthma I’m now starting to realise I might have rushed myself out a bit quickly! (Hindsight is 20-20 I guess!) It’s annoying because I’m used to severe exacerbations and admissions and tend to pick up fairly quickly once I get out of hospital and on top of things.

Can’t shift this cold and getting stupidly down
sorry for moaning. I have had this cold for weeks. All the cold symptoms are much better but I can’t get rid of this horrible gunky chest. My peak flow is down (230 this morning, best is 410 but I never make that in the morning). At night I try to sleep sitting up but wake up choking on horrid gunk.

Being nebuliser in A &E
When I had my asthma attack recently I went to A &E and was treated with a neubliser. The nurse who gave it to me was just going to set it up and leave me to it. I did stop here before she just set it up and asked a few questions. I never had this treatment before but have been aware of it through this

Prescribed Montelukast. Feeling a bit down/rant.
I went for a medication review and was offered either montelukast or a different combination inhaler (I presume at the same dose). I was struck for a moment with the prospect of having some days for the new one to kick in and must have pulled a face, so the nurse chose to trial montelukast. It will take
