JUST KEEPING YOU UP TO DATE WITH LATEST TREATMENT

Length (time) between first and second line?
Just posing a little q... following on from the thread about Avastin, apparently the studies have shown that it can result in an average on 5 months more time between end of first line and first recurrence. Obviously every day counts but it made me think how long can you get (on average) without it

THE REASON WHY I HAVE BEEN REFUSED AVASTIN - but it aint over yet folks
Apparently I'm unusual in that although my OC has recurred three times, each time I have had chemo I have responded well. Trials of Avastin have so far been limited to 1st and 2nd-line patients. There has been no such trial for 3rd and 4th-line patients (I am the latter) and therefore there is no yardstick

BACK ON MY BELOVED AVASTIN
I have been somewhat absent from this site for the past week as frankly I have been feeling dreadful. I had my 'biggie chemo' Wed of last week and started going downhill Fri afternoon. No chemo has ever confined me to bed but the Cisplatin/Gemcitibane really is a killer. I had my scan last week

Hello ladies, I am posting this message on behalf of my mother. She is 73 years old and was recently diagnosed with OC (in Dec 2011) - stage 4, grade 3. I live in England but my mother lives in France (we are both French). A friend recommended this website and I have found all your posts/messages

BBFC update.
No ranting today as I now have my first chemo appointment for next Wednesday the 25th, preceded by my pre-chemo blood test and general check this Friday and the long-winded kidney function blood test on the 24th. This last jobbie is a bit of a drag as it involves taking three separate bloods with an

B B F C otherwise known as Bloody Bollocks to ####### Cancer.
So after 7 years it's got down and dirty. Not content with creeping back twice already (but at least having the decency to give me intervals of three and two years) this time the OC has left it a mere six months to come back - and not even creeping this time. Galloping, more like. So it wasn't wind

Hi everyone long time since I have asked a question, but here goes
I have heard on sky news online that the drug avastin has been aproved does anyone know if we will be able to have this on the NHS and in any county, I live in Essex. Reading the report I was upset to see that it gives us an extra six months of life and that in the advanced stage only likely 41% are

six-month post chemo CA125 result. And Avastin. Is it available in the UK?
I keep an eye on this site on behalf of a very dear friend, diagnosed stage 3c last August. She and I find your questions and answers a constant source of support; I hope nobody minds me asking something on her behalf. She is about to get her latest CA125 result, post radical hysterectomy and 6 months

Feel I am quietly being written off - please help
I am feeling sorry for myself so please forgive me.. I have stage 4 OC and over the last few years I have had carbo/taxol, surgery, Caeylx and Topetican. I would be prepared to pay for Avastin and would go on any drug trial I was offered but I just don't know how you get to hear about these things

Help/Advice please on choice of treatment
Had four treatments of carbo/taxol for primary peritoneal cancer. Op on 24 October to debulk. Removal of omentum and ovaries. CT scan hadn't shown full extent of cancer so removal of more not possible. Had carbo on its own last week, now have to decide whether to have carbo/gemcitabine to finish

HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED NOSE BLEEDS WHILST ON CISPLATIN OR ANY OTHER CHEMO?
I have only had one course of my new chemo - Cisplatin and Gemcitibane and already it is causing havoc with my body. The blood count was too low on Wed to have my chemo and for the past 3 days I have been experiencing bleeding problems from the nose, which for the past 16 hours, have been pretty consistent

My Avastin isn't working any more
Hi Ladies, Over the past 8 months my cancer marker has been slowing increasing and despite a change in chemotherapy adding Carboplatin to my Avastin, it is still rising. Over the past couple of months I have noticed niggling tummy pains, but it has always been put down to wind with the constipation
