Guilty...of feeling guilty
My New Years resolution should have been 'stop feeling guilty!' This is another aspect of endo that I've come to accept as part of the disease. Guilt for letting down friends at the last minute, guilt about calling in sick when I know we're short-staffed, guilt about not being able to have sex, guilt

'How was your weekend?' -well it depends who's asking, and what mood I'm in
If it's one of my work colleages asking then the answer is usually 'Fine thanks. How was yours?' and therefore directing the conversation back at them. If it's a close friend then it was far from fine. Remember when staying up all night Fri then staying in bed all day Sat used to mean a good weekend

A small teeny weeny blink-and-you'll-miss-it upside to having endo.
What???? I hear you shout. Are you mad??? probably :-) A small upside of having endo is that you are insanely grateful when you finally see an improvement. Today I managed to walk the 1 mile from work to home. This is the first time I have managed this since my lap in Sept. The simple pleasure of walking

Normal on the outside????
This post is inspired by the lovely comments I had to yeaterdays' blog. One of the many frustrating things about endo is that most ladies with endo appear fine to those who don't look too closely. I've learnt that some people are really bad at reading body language. I'd guess roughly 50% of people would

0 - ridiculous!
Since I've had a rare good day today I decided to do something useful and put together my own version of a pain scale. I often find it difficult to explain the severity of my pain so I've tried to relate it to pain that most people will understand. I taken the universal pain scale and added my own definitions

'...and I wish I could work full-time'
On a fairly regular basis I am subjected to a snidy remark such as 'I wish I could work part-time' or even worse 'I wish I could afford to work part-time' the implication being that I'm a lucky so-and-so for working part-time. These remarks come from colleagues I have worked with for many years and

Frustration: a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs
If I had to choose one word to decribe endo it would be 'frustration'. For me there is no rhyme or reason to my endo. There is no discernable cause and effect, no food or drink that relates to my symptoms, no pattern whatsoever. The only thing that makes the pain worse is activity. I drive myself

I went to see the asthma nurse today for my annual review, after asking all the usual questions about how my asthma was and what medication i was on. My currant medication is: Salbutamol Breath - Actuated Inhaler, Seretide 250 Inhaler 2 puffs twice a day, Montelukast Sodium Tablets 10mg, Loratadine

Blood Test and Doctors Appointments
I have painful arms and I am buising a lot more than I have ever done before. So I went to see the doctor on the 22nd July and he recommended that I had a blood test, so on the 29th July I had a full blood test to check my bloods were all ok. My bloods came back as normal. I have been having to use

ah another pred question sorry
Hi Sos to seem so dumb about this - am on long term pred which the cons is trying to wean me off - but getting infections infections again. My question is about 40mg pred. I had an infection in December and went from daily 4mg to 40mg and was weaned down very very slowly back to 4mg then have to double

Antihistamine and a gin & tonic
Previously had Loratadine for hayfever and no probs whatsoever. This year, I note the sticky label from the pharmacist says to avoid alcohol. Nothing really about that on the insert within the box. Took a tablet on Sunday morning, that evening I had a thumping headache after 1 gin and tonic. Put it

work and asthma
My asthma is really playing up at work at the moment I am getting really short of breath and I am suffering with a tight chest quite a lot of the time. I work with a lot of students with challenging behaviour and they are young people with special needs. I have a student who likes to run out of classroom

Just grumbly asthma?
Hi there. I had a chest infection that seemed to clear with anti-b's about a month ago, but ever since I've not been feeling tip-top. It's like I have hayfever and a cough. This is the first winter I've had since my diagnosis and although Ive always caught colds and flu I've never felt this bad for

An update and a question about steroids
Hi all, Hope everyone's doing ok. Just thought I'd send an update, as I know reading about other people's conditions has enabled me to go to my GP armed with good advice/info. Anyway, after switching to accuhalers after discovering I was sensitive to the propellant in evohalers, things started to look

peakflow improved since having steroid nasal spray
Does anyone share my experience? I was using salbutamol a lot and GP was not sure why. Anyway, he changed my nasal spray and eye drops to steroid rather than antihistamine ones, and I have used the salb. far less and my peak flow has improved. I also take loratadine every day. Maybe it is coincidence

Cough cough cough
Sunday evening I coughed for England, I took Loratadine for the hay fever, Singular, and my symbicort and ventolin, It took a couple of hours but eventually quietened down and I was able to sleep. However woke the next morning coughing again, not so bad but it makes me so tired. Not had such a bad attack

Teenage Student new to Asthma
Hi, I’m new here and relatively new to asthma. I just had a few questions that I hoped someone would be able to answer. I had asthma as a child and as far as I know it was well controlled and one of those things that I just grew out of. I am now 19 and 2 years ago I moved into university accommodation

A medication question...
Can anyone tell me if I would be able to ask for an 'add on' pulmicort inhaler to my current medication? I am currently on Symbicort (200/6) SMART and Loratadine tablets (antihistamine). With the symbicort I am on 2 puffs twice a day maintenance dose, and up to 12 puffs in 24 hours (including my maintenance
