Meropenem

MEROPENEM IV FOR PSEUDOMONAS. CANNOT GET RID OF IT. ALL OTHER IV MEDS HAVE NOT WORKED ALL. YEAR LONG, 4 PIC LINES.. NOW A PORT INFECTIOUS DISEASE DR TOLD ME THIS DRUG IS ONLY GIVEN IN SERIOUS CASES AS PSEUDOMONAS OFTEN BECOMES RESISTANT TO IT AND IT CANNOT BE USED AGAIN.

Treatment with antibiotics doxycycline, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cefotaxime, and meropenem unsuccessful (doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic that reduces inflammation.

This always results in hospital admission to be treated with IV meropenem (10days). Culprit is usually a klebsiella and she goes home with prophylactic antibiotic (she's had them all- nitrofurantoin, coamoxiclav, fosfomycin, trimethoprim and the most recent one is cefalexin.

Hi going on Meropenem again. This is the third time since September. I've had two X rays still showing a shadow on my left lung waiting for a Ct Scan. At the moment I feel like it's never ending. 😕😡 Holly

I was in for 2 weeks and then self administered meropenem at home for another 2 weeks.

So far he has been on Meropenem (and now merobactum), PCM injections for fever relief, amikacin (restarted today), four doses of colistin in two days (suspected to cause higher fever than regular - 104° with chills and vomitting).

Hi everyone, I have bronchiectasis with haemophilius influenzae and will go in hospital for 10 days to be treated with Meropenem IV. Has anyone with haemophilius influenzae every been treated with this IV? How long did the bug stay away before it came back again?

Hi My dad contracted a chest infection and was on Meropenem anti-biotic (1gm via IV, 3 times a day) for 7 days - during that time he had a bout of bad coughing again and again after the IV injections ended - 2 days ago it got so bad I wanted to rush him to ER again.. thankfully it got better yesterday

The drug is Meropenem which takes at least 40 minutes to go through the canula and about an hour and a half altogether to do all the rest of the procedure - laying out the sodium chloride to flush the line, ceftazidim (which I think is part of the drug), the meropenem, and heparin to keep the line open

From my attempts at research on the Internet it looked to me like IV Meropenem might be the most effective choice? Any wisdom and experience would be appreciated.

It’s been almost a week. Initially my father (age-56) was admitted due to some abnormality in cavernoma. Went through a surgery as suggested by the Doc. I had an allergic reaction to IV Meropenem last week (rash, headache, achey)- looked like I had s[ent 20 years under a sunbed! I am known to be allergic to doxycycline already (although wasn't as bad)- I got very burnt. Does anyone know if these antibiotics are in the same family?
