Ordering a-Syn blockers in bulk. Master list of nutrients for PD.
I'm going to order the following plant extracts in bulk from China as powders and mix them for storage and later mixing in drinks. I'll dump the powders in a 5 gallon bucket, shake, bottle, and label according to FDA. I'm already taking about 2/3 of them. Let me know if I'm missing anything. I

levodopa
and dopamine agonists’ treatment in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients can become ineffective to control involuntary movements. Laboratory studies on PD animal models suggest that physical training may help to alleviate these symptoms offering an alternative form of therapy.

PEG tube dementia/PSP - end of life
My dad has PSP and is in an advanced stage - he had a PEG tube inserted when he aspirated 4 months ago - the neuro stopped his carpidopa-
levodopa
(sinemet) since he had horrible leg spams - it led to a very bad state where he could not talk, eat, drink, sit up, communicate or even swallow his own saliva

Azilect, swelling ankles.
I started with 1tab; carbidopa/
levodopa

Syndopa reduces tremors?
In what percent of PD cases does Syndopa (carbidopa and
levodopa
) reduce resting tremors? It's not having an effect on mine. I seem to react badly to it in other mental ways that I can't describe except to say maybe increased confusion or headache.

I guess it's advancing
My mom in law was diagnosed about 2 months ago, and were surprised to see she responded to carbidopa/
levodopa
. However, the benefits seem to have stopped working. She now has a slight hand tremor (brand new), and is leaning significantly to the left.

Sugar & alcohol reduce tremors? Undiagnosed diabetes?
Has anyone noticed their resting tremor reduces with a good dose of sugar or alcohol? Like a soda (11 teaspoons of sugar) or a full beer (4 teaspoons of alcohol). The idea is that cells which are not able to produce much energy from compromised mitochondria can function better on a sugar or alcohol

The more I take, the less I make ...
Sometimes I think that this phrase accurately describes the taking of L-dopa (in my case Sinemet). Do other sometimes feel it is like this? John.

Amphetamines in Chocolate and Aderall may cause Parkinson's, but reduce symptoms
Chocolate http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23575894 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19277767 The most disabled patients, including those also on
levodopa
, showed the greatest response to amphetamines. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1097600 amphetamine, and the herbicides, paraquat and rotenone

Antipsychotics and pd?
Has been suggested for my gran if she struggles with movement and hallucinations in place of
levodopa
. I've heard horror stories about it being an antipsychotics but I thought you couldn't have that sort of medication for lbd patients? This is from a movement specialist.

Fast-Talking, Fast-Walking Contradiction
Since Parkinson's range of symptoms stem from the excessive (and unrelenting) loss of dopamine-producing neurons, a
levodopa
/carbidopa med such as Sinemet (which serves to generate and maintain dopamine) is frequently used as a diagnostic tool.

Online book on Parkinson's is free and lots of fun
One exception is the paperback "Mucuna versus Parkinson: Treatment with natural
levodopa
" (August, 2014), which (based on a cursory glance within) highlights the many positive research findings on this natural medicine for Parkinson's.

Anybody else experiencing this blood pressure-levodopa link?
In my two-year battle with my doctors over how to deal with the dangerous spikes I was getting in my blood pressure during my
levodopa
off periods, I took a lot of blood pressure readings on my home monitor.

Nicotine as a neuroprotectant
1. Extensive studies in parkinsonian animals show that nicotine protects against NIGROSTRIATIAL damage, findings that may explain the well-established decline in Parkinson’s disease incidence with tobacco use. In addition, recent work shows that nicotine reduces L-dopa-induced abnormal involuntary movements

Rytary off to a shaky start
None of the rytary users were as happy with it as I have been with my switch from the regular carbidopa-
levodopa
to the pre-existing extended release version. For a fuller report, see my blog post at http://bit.ly/1IqQSNS

Less is more when it comes to my pills
Thanks to new thinking by some medical authorities regarding statins and blood pressure meds for us old folks, I'm now taking only one prescription medication – – carbidopa
levodopa
. And only three over-the-counter pills – – Vitamin D-3, curcumin and 5-HTP. For details, see http://bit.ly/1HxzXZA.

My Parkinson's disease neurologist has just prescribed rytary, the new extended release version of
