Interesting results from Mark Hyman's 10 Day Detox
I did not test for
ketosis
but I know the ketogenic diet has been used successfully for epilepsy.

Dr Stephen Phinney - Difference Between Nutritional Ketosis and DKA
Many who do not understand LCHF, always mix up Nutritional
Ketosis
and Diabetc Keto Acidosis (DKA) and then try to scare away diabetics with their half baked knowledge. Here's a short video where Dr Stephen Phinney clears the fog http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Rftt60dfo

A Type 1 Doctor Who Manages His Own Diabetes On Low Carb High Fat
v=34dVedTZbVk As a type 1 he always is in Nutritional
ketosis
as he calls it, and he being a board certified doctor definitely has more knowledge about what it is than any of one of us here. Indian diabetics practice and profess LCHF on http://www.dlife.in/

*waves* Hello!
I was lucky back in January when somehow my body woke me when I was having a crisis with a bad hypo (blood sugar less than 2) and
ketosis
as well. Not nice. Something that has made a huge difference to my lung health has been going on insulin.

Is it possible to get a test for apolipoprotein B on the NHS?
I'm in my 5th week of attempting to follow a Nutritional
Ketosis
diet and have managed to drop about ½ a stone. My BMI is down to 24, so I'm happy about that. I'm 75 and had a heart attack 4½ years ago and had a stent fitted. I was 14½ stone then and now I'm nearly down to 11½ stone.

Ketogenic Diet Information
You can't cheat at all as it will take you out of
Ketosis
and back on glucose feeding. The benefits of
Ketosis
are real and profound. I studied the Kdiet for two months, with the great help of our member Norton, who is a great guiding light and resource for information.

THE CONTEXT OF CALORIES... PART II
Typically, 100-150 grams of carbohydrate per day is plenty to keep you out of
ketosis
(and
ketosis
is NOT a bad thing) but away from storing the excess as fat if you are the least bit active. Don’t forget that your body can make up to 200 grams of glycogen from fats and protein every day, too.

THE CONTEXT OF CALORIES......
Keep your carbs low enough long enough and you get into
ketosis
, a fat-burning state that creates what many now refer to as the “metabolic advantage.”

Remain an active sportsman with diabetes.
It is best to avoid exercise if fasting BG levels are >250 mg/dl and
ketosis
is present, and use caution if glucose levels are >300 mg/dl and no
ketosis
is present. It is advisable to keep track of the progress. One may find it motivating to write down physical activity done on each day.

GF + Exercise = Ketosis?
These are apparently 'warning' signs of
ketosis
, something normal for people on low-carb diets, but I wasn't aware that I was... I eat more rice these days, to take the place of bread and pastry, but I also have gluten-free bread rolls for lunch. I thought I should be fine.
