Group for those on Iressa
Has anyone out there, diagnosed at stage 4 EGFR positive treated with
Iressa
been given surgery, not in a curative way but as a possible way to extend the effectiveness of the drug? The theory being that if you debulk the tumour there is a possibility that
Iressa
may be more effective for longer.

Iressa and continuity in the NHS.
I handed the prescription form back to her and explained that I had been taken off this drug when I began taking
Iressa
. Lansoprazole, and others like it, reduces the absorbtion levels of
Iressa
(by 37 percent I understand).

This is a question for all Iressa users
I have been on
Iressa
for 7 months now with no change in size to my tumour, but most of the blogs I read state a reduction in size of the tumour, is anybody else like me, just keeping the tumour a stable size?

As a stage 4 lung cancer patient being treated with the drug
Iressa
I'm feeling rather isolated because there are so few of us and we live so far apart. I was diagnosed in November 2010 and have been on
Iressa
since January the following year.

Not such good news today
Well today I have been told that the drug I am taking,
Iressa
, has stopped working and the tumour has started to grow again. Reading the posts on here I had hoped that this drug would work for a bit longer but everyones's different.

Just a quick update
Well, there was no further progression at all to the tumour, just slight growth of one node. :)) This means I can carry on with
Iressa
for another 3 months until I am scanned again (or If I become symptomatic I will be scanned sooner).

I'm on TV! Thanks BBC
I was one of the first to access the drug
Iressa
on the NHS. 6/ There is hope even when diagnosed at a late stage especially with the availability of new treatments.

Not the news I wanted to hear :((
As some of you know, I was one of the first people to have
Iressa
on the NHS so what ever they try on me is early stage guesswork to some extent.

A bit of research! Please help if you can
Calling all who are taking '
Iressa
'! I'm thinking of doing my own bit of 'simple' research on how well
Iressa
is working for us as there doesn't seem to be a 'national' data base. What I want is for anyone taking
Iressa
to get in touch with the following info.

great results with iressa
nan started
iressa
for palative care and to hopefully extend life expectancy. so we was delighted yesterday to be told that after 11 weeks on
iressa
nan's tumours have shrunk by a third and the plural infusion on the lung has decreased by two thirds.

Update from lung cancer study day and other things :)
It was only in 2009 a that biological therapies like
Iressa
and Tarceva were being looked at to treat stage 4, that's only 3 tears ago. They are seeing remarkable increases in survival. None of this will show up in any 'stats' for at least another 2-3 years!

Interested in finding more info on targeted chemo tablets, Iressa and Tarcevaa.
Is everybody with NSLC tested ? If so how are they tested? Our oncologist has recommended carboplatin/gemcitabine chemotherapy up to 4 cycles and might consider local radiotherapy, if there is a response to chemo. He has just completed his first cycle of chemo but just wondering if these targeted chemo

A Great Start!
I am one of the 10% of people who have the EGFR mutation and I have been taking
Iressa
now for 3 weeks. The main side effects I have had have been acne and an itchy scalp but I can't really complain about that when it seems to be working so well.

Receiving news on results of Genetic testing.
It's called
Iressa
. I take 250mg. Every day until the cancer has shrunk or virtually gone! He will give me another scan in 3 months time to see how things are looking. I have to go and see him every month, and to pick up my tablets.
