My doctor has suggested putting me on Interferon Alpha and sent me the leaflet guide from MPN voice. The side affects seem vast and in all honesty, quite scary.

Does interferon have any side effects for those individuals trying to conceive? 2. If I came off it does that also have an impact on fertility?

I am now on 135mg interferon every 10 days. Yipeeeeeeeee Oh yes the symptoms are still there...

I thought I tolerated interferon well but now it’s out of my system I feel so much better 😃😃

Hi , I have just recently started on the pegasys weekly injections . I am travelling to Greece and wonder if anyone can recomend the best way to keep the medication at the correct temperature whilst flying and travelling. Is there a chargeable medication box which I could charge using a battery pack

question to all my MPN people on here who are taking pegasys or besremi, how do you manage elevated liver enzymes? Do they cycle up and down? Is there anything we can do to bring them down? What is acceptable to y’all? My hematologist says not to worry until they hit 2-300.. My blood numbers actually

Moreover, I am beginning the process of switching from hydroxyurea to Besremi, because I'm hopeful this switch will potentially allow me to benefit from the disease-modifying impacts of the interferon. Should I expect these counts to change on Besremi?

Doe PV or Interferon affect the liver?

I'm currently on both whilst still taking the hydroxycarbamide I am introducing the interferon at 45mg every 2 weeks, for 8 weeks, I'm into my 7th week, so far so good. My Consultant wants me then to go onto 90mg weekly injections, is this the norm? Best wishes, Brian

I have just started Pegasys interferon after failed treatments of phlebotomies and Hydroxyurea. My fatigue since diagnosis and treatments starting 2021 is all consuming. I don’t know how to deal or cope with the tiredness, lack of energy, and overall feeling unwell.

Hi I am back in hydroxi after suspected added issues to thyroid being on pegulated interferon for a number of years.

I have PV, diagnosed in Jan 2017, been on aspirin for years and interferon for nearly 14 months. I mostly see the same haematologist nowadays, except now and again, which is absolutely fine, and in general everyone I see is very nice.

The last time I had to take a break from Peg (toward the beginning of my interferon journey two years ago due to elevated liver enzymes) my platelets and especially WBCs jumped right away.

I started interferon back in August and it's going okay. I am having a reaction at the injection site. My skin is rash looking, bright red and dry. Is there anything that works?

Also the fact that I already have a thyroid issue is putting me off interferon which I’m told can affect the thyroid . I just don’t know what I’m going to do .

I started peg interferon in feb 2023 and I have been on 135mg every week for about 4 months now . My recent Jak 2 allele burden blood test shown an increase from 20.83 % at diagnosis to 35.09% my bloods especially the HC is high and I keep needing venesection every 6 weeks .

Just to encourage those starting on Peg Interferon to be patient & to be your own advocate on your treatment. I started on Peg 2 years ago after asking for it due to my intolerance of HU after my ET Jak2 diagnosis following a shoulder sports injury.

When talking this over with my Dr., he said the interferon is "toxic" to the JAK2. It can take a while, but it eventually "breaks it." He also said that data shows that the interferon does most of its work to reduce the allele burden in the first three years, stabilizing after that.
