My Haematoligist has agreed to put me on
interferon
. She has said it may not help with the fatigue, hopefully she is wrong. She also says the breathlessness isn't down to the hydroxcycarbamide despite the fact it's listed on the side effects. I will see how I go while on the
interferon
.

Well I have managed to do my first injection st home but had a bit of a problem prepping the injection I couldn’t seem to be able to snap the needle holder in fear of breaking it but a neighbour helped me just hope the new medication works for me.

Change of treatment!
Or he said I could try
interferon
. I asked about ruxolitinib but I was told that this drug is not licensed in the UK. My question is, has anyone had adverse symptoms with anagrelide or
interferon
? And what were they.?

ET - how many of you have this condition and then have it develop into MF or another condition
I was initially told to take low dosage aspirin and not at high risk until my count was up around 1700's - they started me on
interferon
as I was breastfeeding. After a few months, we changed it over to hydroxycarbamide as my symptoms' with
interferon
weren't great.

Pegasys update
Last night I took another 90 units of
interferon
and paracetamol and went to bed waiting for the nausea to kick in. Nothing, no nausea no headache. No 5-2 diet!!!🥴 I have to have another blood test next week, no doubt the platelets will rise but hopefully the WBC will too.

Advances in the Polycythemia Vera Paradigm Signal Hope for Providers in Pennsylvania Cluster Area
« The interferons are our older agents, but they're being studied in new ways. As we have molecular data available to us and as we have better tools to look at the marrow more closely, to assess what's happening, what we're finding is that some of these agents including the interferons, may be altering

Ruxolitinib discontinuation in polycythemia vera:
« After discontinuation, only 4 patients (18 %) received subsequent cytoreductive therapy, including hydroxyurea in one patient and pegylated
interferon
α-2a in three patients »… « discontinuation of ruxolitinib in PV was associated with generally favorable outcomes.

Is anyone concerned on the side-effect of taking hydroxyurea for long time?
I heard
Interferon
is much better than HU and has chance to change JAK2 + to negative. Anyone any recommendation? I am JAK2+ with platelets ~600

Back in the day, when I was on Beta 1b
interferon
, each needle I used to imagine. The medicine going into my bloodstream and flowing around my body. Building barriers, repairing damage that ms had caused. Not getting all the damage, but some.

More variants TLR7 gene found in young healthy men with severe Covid-19.
Spanish-Dutch research has revealed two new mutations in the TLR7 gene in healthy young men who became seriously ill with severe Covid-19. It’s becoming increasingly plausible that such mutations undermine a sufficient immune response against SARS-CoV-2, the researchers write in Frontiers in Immunology

Advice wanted
I was initially put on
Interferon
but could not tolerate the fevers especially with a 1 year old. Haven't been on any medication for MD since, platelets are 200. I have now got a rash lower part of my legs which burns and sometimes itches and feel I am getting it on my hands also.

Implications of butyrate and its derivatives for gut health and animal production 2018
The anti-inflammatory properties of butyrate have been shown to be mediated by several mechanisms including: the reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokine expression (
interferon
gamma [IFN-γ], tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α], interleukin-1B [IL-1B], IL-6, IL-8), the induction of IL-10 and transforming growth

Greater Understanding of PV, ET Drives Potential New Treatment Options
For example, a phase 2 study of ruxolitinib in combination with pegylated
interferon
alfa 2a (PEG-IFN alfa-2a) found the regimen was well tolerated, decreased JAK2 V617F allelic burden and symptoms, and resulted in remission for 10 of the 32 patients with PV deemed “almost entirely” intolerant or refractory
