Fractures

Before all the spinal fractures and bursitis and PMR etc I was reasonably fit, but not athletic and I did a 1.5 hour weekly Hatha yoga class. Even earlier this year I could do an occasional 6-7 mile coastal walk.

He had skull fractures, swelling, 2 brain bleeds 1 of which was in the brain stem, and underwent a crainectomy 24 hours after he was airlifted to hospital. He remained in critical condition for just u der 3 weeks and then spent a further 8 months across 3 different hospitals.

All the lumbar vertebrae have compression fractures and an old one at T11 and new one at T8 which is 80% compressed. The spine dr has referred me to have kyphoplasty and I am waiting on the appt. He also has referred me to endocrinologist to manage the osteo once this is done.

PMR in 2020 still on steroids I’ve tapered down to 2 mg but can’t get any lower.Doctor seems happy with that.Ive had so much help and advise from this group, it’s who I turn to when I need more advise.I had a Bone Scan last September 2022 got the results last week after numerous phone calls.I have fractures

Do Physicians only recommend radiation for non metastatic men? and only recently in Oligo metastatic patients? Do they use radiation as a tool to bring psa down in metastatic men? and or radiation is only used as palliative for bones and pain? My apologies, If I’m not processing this thoroughly

I have just been told I have osteoporosis in my hips with a T score of -2.6. I am 49 and on long term steroids so assuming this is the cause. A number of years ago I was prescribed oral biphosphanates that I didn’t tolerate following an osteopenic result on dexa scan I am not sure if anyone can answer

I have compression fractures in three areas of the thoracic spine (T10, T11 and T12) and one area of the lumbar spine ( L1). I was diagnosed with GCA in September 2022 and have been on high doses of steroids until very recently.

Can anyone here advice on SE of this drug please. I have been on Zoladex this last 6 months & have a PSA of 1.03 now, coming off Firmagon before that. Now the MO advises a 3 month break & then start Darolutamide tablets. Thanks for any input.

Some Xgeva side effects have me very concerned, such as potential for ONJ, broken femur, and then potential for multiple vertebrae fractures if/when treatment ends. Understood that everyone is a little different. Thanks in advance!

Well brother I was on lupron for about a year couldn't tolerate the side effects went on firmagon could not tolerate side effects finally went and had a orchiectomy it was the best thing I've ever had done don't have to deal with the pain and the side effects of the injections and the only thing I take

To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. She insisted I attend A&E to rule out any fractures. So Saturday I spent 16hrs in A&E, I had a CT scan which ruled out any fractures, but as I have fused sacroiliac joints and 2 slipped discs, they couldn’t tell if the nerves are impacted and being compressed, so have to get gp to organise an MRI.
