Can this really be true ???
I went to see my Lung consultant yesterday armed with my Laptop and lots of questions I had written after doing my research, the first being how had I gone from having a clear CT scan two years ago to a CT scan that indicates both moderate
Emphysema
and Moderate Brochacaetais in this timeframe ?

Well I took your advice and went to my doctors to see about the bits of blood when I cough, I actually seen the main man, great doctor, he is convinced I was born with this bullous
emphysema
and it was only picked up when I stopped smoking.

Just been diagnosed
I had a pet scan in relation to my PMR and when the result came back it said
Emphysema
. I had previously been to my GP because I seem to get short of breath if climbing hills or stair. He did an xray which showed nothing. The Pet scan did show it. I wonder how they will know what stage I am at.

First check up since diagnosis
In April after nasty chest infection, I had CT scan and Spirometry test and came away with diagnosis of COPD (
emphysema
and chronic bronchitis) was advised to ditch the cigs, which I did and that would help slow down the decline in lung function.

Prognosis through stages
I just wanted to know if there was any hard or fast rule of maintaining a particular stage of
emphysema
and how long you can hold it for. I am doing as all you good people have advised eating good food, exercising, taking my meds and have been a non smoker for two months.

Anyone with "normal" FEV1 staged at moderate emphysema?
With an FEV1/FVC % of less than .70 and an FEV1 95% predicted I thought pointed to mild
emphysema

Emphysema Life Expectancy
What is the life expectancy for a 20 year old male who has just been diagnosed with
emphysema
. Previously a smoker from age 14, but has been smoke free for 10 months prior to diagnosis. In otherwise good health, and exercises often.
