Duopa

My husband's neurologist has recommended he get a Duopa pump. His C/L meds don't work as well anymore (lots of 'off time') so this is the next option.

From a dosing perspective, I don’t know how a shot of Vitamin B1 translates to a comparable amount taken through the Duopa pump. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

I have used the Duopa system for the past 5 years. While my symptom improvement was clear, with time the entire system, even at its FDA approval was antiquated and (in my opinion) it has been a disappointment with its clumsy ergonomics.

Can anyone with Duopa tell me about their first experience and how long it took before the dose was regulated properly. I don't think my brother will tolerate a "process" that feels like torture in order to get the dose right. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone else noticed this change in packaging and/or been affected by what may be the Duopa being less effective?

Have any people above 60 had any luck with this contraption? My dad tried it for almost a year and tons of complications like UTIs + detaching and coming out + increased dementia. Also has Lewy Body. Grateful for any info. Cheers - Kym

He is currently on the Duopa Pump which regulates the Levidopa/bypasses the gut, supposedly being more effective. However, since he's had the pump, since March 2020, there have been numerous complications in conjunction with the disease progressing.

Where were the DBS Manufacturers and what about Duopa (Levodopa pump) at this conference.? Is there therapy after oral medications flame out ? I heard from one person Fox didn't invite them.. Anyone know more? Otherwise, every vendor in the universe seemed to be there.

He was there to have a tube replacement for his duopa pump system. This was new to me, so I am going to discuss it here for those who have also never heard of it .

My husbands medicine is not helping him the way it used to so his neurologist recommends getting the Duopa pump which puts the medicine directly into his small intestine. Does anyone have this?

My hubby takes a 25/250 carbidopa/levadopa every other hour. It is hard to keep on time everytime. His doctor wants him to think about the pump that puts med into the small intestine. Anyone have one? What does it cost a year to use? What is it like for you to wear and maintain? Any side effect

My fellow Parkie's, I went to my neuro yesterday and he told my about the Duopa pump and how successful it has been. It essentially pumps a steady stream of Sinimet through a feeding tube placed in your stomach and into your small intestine.

My PD physician has recommended Duopa for my treatment. Wondering if anyone has had the procedure and what do you think?
