Anyone on Health Unlocked have a DUOPA? Would you share your experience? I am considering it. What do you like about it and what don't you like? How long have you had it? Thanks !

Hi - my husband is on a list for this procedure when there is a bed.... we have checked it out and been encouraged particularly by talking to another person via the doctor who had had the peg and was delighted. Hope you get some good advice !

My mom had it for a while. Found it cumbersome carrying it around, meds were expensive, had to constantly clean the incision area, and during one of here hallucinations she cut off a tube and it retracted into her incisions and caused an infection. She was in her late stage with mild dementia though so there were other contributing factors. The touted benefits of continuous injections leading to smoother and less off time did not come to fruition for her. It was a failed experiment for us, but everyone is different these are just from our experience.

My husband had it for five months At that time the tubing backed up into his stomach. Rather than have it re inserted he opted for removal as he found it no more effective than oral meds Very disappointing However maybe you will have better luck. Hope you do. Bubee
