Diet During Chemotherapy
Hi everyone. So today I am writing to you with a very practical question. For those of you who are on Docetaxol, what kind of diet do you find best? Do you leave out certain things or add certain things more? Thus far, I have only found out a lot about foods that support a healthy liver function such

Dad's first Oncology appointment
The oncologist has suggested that Dad gets straight onto chemo (
Docetaxel
) alongside the Degarelix - I know some studies have suggested this is a good thing, but I do have some concerns and just wanted to hear people's thoughts.

Feeling rushed, my last cycle of chemo then surgery.
My last 2 cycles of
Docetaxel
have been a rough time and will be glad to complete cycle 6, I hardly recovered from each cycle before the next one was started.

Anyone have any idea what's next?
They said the cancer was dotted across the bowl like a pearl necklace and chemo was the only option, however she was allergic to Taxol and had 5 cycles of carbo/
docetaxel
before her bowel perforated and the sepsis set in.

Docetaxel and nicotine
Hi, I have had two sessions of
docetaxel
and I am wondering if using nicotine gum to curb my weekly cigar smoking has any effect on the chemo? I have an aggressive metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer and have already gone through Zytiga and Xtandi.

STAMPEDE - Zytiga at ADT initiation. NEJM Paper.
Although
docetaxel
may work in part by targeting the androgen-receptor pathway,29 it generally has a different mechanism of action than abiraterone, and abiraterone is active after
docetaxel
use.5 Thus, there may be an additive effect of giving abiraterone immediately after

Urinary Urgency
One of the only symptoms he had was urgency, He started treatment with ADT in February and
Docetaxel
in April. My understanding is this should be shrinking the tumors and should in theory make the urgent feeling go away.

New member 3 months into treatment
CT scan showed an enlarged pelvic wall lymph node so the team suggested the hormone,
Docetaxel
and radiotherapy treatment. Had my second chemo yesterday and touch wood the side effects to date have not been as bad as expected, hair loss, tiredness and a few mouth issues such as taste.

Docetaxel cycle 3 chemo: hitting the wall on day 6
It looked like this cycle was going to be easy, I've been walking 2 miles a day everyday so far and other than a mid upset stomach, there have been minimal side effects. That is, until today. My energy level has dropped like a rock overnight. Looks like I'll be chair bound for today at least. I'm guessing

How do you know if chemo is working?
Hi Guys, I've had 4 rounds of
Docetaxel
(Taxotere) and before the last round, I asked the oncologist how we can tell if the chemo is working. She said that we know it's working by my PSA being low and stable (it's at 1.0).

Previous results from the trial have already changed clinical practice - data released last year has led to
docetaxel
chemotherapy now being part of the standard of care for many men with prostate cancer. More data will come out in subsequent years, because of the innovative design of the trial.

Update "next plan"
Now the new plan is
docetaxel
and ramucirumab this will now be a 4 hour infusion. This will now be harder than carboplatin and alimta. Really scared...... they say I will lose my hair just when it finally came back. Plus a host of other side effects.

Docetaxel 1st cycle week of hell.
It's now a week since my 1st cycle of
Docetaxel
following 3 cycles of FEC, it has been a dreadful week where the treatment has thrown back every side effect possible. I expected it to be tough but it has nearly broken me.
