Docetaxel question
He talked about
docetaxel
. He said when I start that, I will get an infusion every 3 weeks until it stops working. This is different than what I expected. I thought it was usually 6 infusions then done ???

Opinions about chemotherapy. Running out of options
Or we can consider adding
Docetaxel
to Carboplatin. " "There are two schedules for this that have been studied, and both are on a 28-day cycle: - One schedule (used in a smaller retrospective study) uses the current dose of Carboplatin you are receiving (AUC of 4) and gives this one Day 1, and then

Treatment options after Olaparib; Docetaxel or Cabazetaxel
Just in case, I have read that Cabazetaxel is possibly better tolerated than
Docetaxel
, being less toxic and with fewer side effects?

However, my last PSA jumped from .7 to 1.7 this past month, so my oncologist is recommending that I start
docetaxel
. I am reaching out to the members of this blog asking you to share your experiences with
docetaxel
, the good and the bad and any alternatives you can suggest.

TA - technical analysis of PSA
Since then on ADT (lowest PSA 3,7). 2 years ago added bicadex for 6 months, than after rise of PSA went on 6 doses on
Docetaxel
, (PSA went from 55 to 5,5) and later after one year of steady rise (PSA 85), start Xtandi 3 months ago. PSA now in downtrend at 11,5.

UK news - Abiraterone
But NICE’s refusal to recommend abiraterone has left men in England and Wales who are first diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer with the options of only hormone therapy with
docetaxel
chemotherapy, or hormone therapy on its own.

Docetaxel starting mid-Dec, insurance doesn't pay for Neulasta to keep white blood cell count good. Uh..pandemic anybody?
Low immunity caused by chemo during a pandemic doesn't sound very good to me, though I am doing Jane McLlelands supplements and COC which should help. Questions for my cousins in cancer: 1) Would you start chemo now during a pandemic knowing your white blood cell count will go to crap, and you can't

Chemo not working for bone mets
After a few weeks he started on 6 sessions (18 weeks) of
docetaxel
chemotherapy and Eligard/ leuprorelin shots ( every 3 mos). His PSA was 31 at the start and has come down to 1.7 as of early October. Yesterday he had a skull-thigh CT scan (BC/BS denied him a physician-requested PET scan).

Keeping my arms, legs, hands and feet inside the ride
I did
docetaxel
for 4 cycles starting in June until Sept 1 (second time with this treatment). PSA started to go up in last cycle. So we hit up insurance to see if I could do cabazitaxel and carboplatin. They denied i the combo(much to the chagrin of my MO) but approved Xofigo.

Follow up to the Follow up: Auximen Scan showed significant new cancerous growth
In the meantime, I have been approved for
Docetaxel
, so I can begin chemotherapy if nothing I am doing works. I will be speaking to an Oncologist at the National Cancer Institute on Tuesday next week. I found a childhood friend that works at the NIH who facilitated this appointment.

Anyone here diagnosed with secondary cancer after chemo and radiation for prostate cancer?
We are dealing with a very resistant type of prostate cancer and as a result, my husband has had carboplatin,
docetaxel
, Lupron, Zytiga, and consolidating radiation all within 16 months. I’m now wondering about secondary cancers associated with the aforementioned treatments.

PSA drop to 0.48
Grandads PSA has dropped down to 0.48 after treatment of 13 cycles of
docetaxel
, lueprorelin shot and is currently taking daily bicalutamide. Although everyone seems to be happy in the family about the PSA dropping I would of liked it to come down to nadir!!! Is this of concern ...

Looking for suggestions
Then 35 days of radiation, Eligard every 4 months, X Tandi for 15 months and most recently 4 sessions of Chemo (
Docetaxel
) The irony is that my PSA jumped from 3 to 13 while on the chemo. Any hints of which direction to look next?

Update 3: End of Chemotherapy - Docetaxel
Hi, Last Friday, October 2nd, my father completed the 6 cycle of
docetaxel
, as planned. The same morning, he was in consultation with his oncologist, who informed him that, like bone scan, CT does not show metastases.

Follow up: Auximen Scan showed significant new cancerous growth and there is a whirlwind of information to absorb and choices to be made.
Chemotherapy-likely
Docetaxel
. 3. Radium 223 to treat the disease in my bones appears to be the only problem areas. No evidence of lymph nodes, soft tissue, or organs being involved. 4. Immunotherapy--both institutions have multiple phase 2 and phase 1 trials going.
