Stroke Risk From Afib & The Role Of Blood Thinners
I was reluctant to take blood thinners from about the age of 68 to 72. My CHA2DS2Vasc sat at "1" for most of that time until it went to a "2." Actually, my Cardiologist didn't think I needed blood thinners either as I was having infrequent periods of relatively short Afib so he had me on low-dose aspirin

AF back again post ablation !
Just a update, it’s always nice to hear from people in my shoes, anyone with similar issues feel free to let me know or ask if they need any of my experience with this torturous problem. I’m now 3 months post catheter ablation! I had a routine echocardiogram done in March 2022 with positive news a

ICD implant and trapped phrenic nerve
9 months ago I posted re spasms I suffered when lying on my side and I was surprised to find that nobody else seemed to experience these after having an ICD fitted. Repeated questions to my GP and other NHS professionals were ignored and no one seemed willing to help. Finally I got a cardiac nurse on

So, I have had PAF (probably vagal) for about 5 years. My incidents have gone from once every every few months to about weekly in the last few months. Stress is usually my trigger and incidents usually take place during the night or first thing in the morning. I was using 200mg of Flecainide as PIP

Digoxin
Hi Long story but After a few posts last month when I explained that after Covid I was getting more AF bouts I was told today that I’m in permanent AF and after consultant signs off letter to doc I will be taken off flecainide, and will be prescribed Digoxin along with my usual 10 mg Bisoprolol. Flecainide converted my fibrillation to flutter
I started on 50mg X 2 Flecainide a few months ago after 10 years of no treatment and the effects have been life changing. However the fibrillation had now been replaced by flutter and I'm beginning to feel almost as bad again. My RHR had always been in the low 50s and BP at 125/75 but now they are prescribing

7 Ways to Stop an AFib Attack - John Day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9a54B-7oyE A useful video ( 7 mins) from the author of the excellent book - The Afib Cure. Might be useful to newcomers... 1) Medication PIP 2) Rehydrate 3) Optimise electrolytes 4) Exercise it away (my second choice) 5) Relax (my first choice) 6) Vagal manoeuvres 7)

Afib and migraine aura without headache
I had an ablation almost two years ago. In the month or so after the ablation, I had migraine without aura 3 or 4 times, and read that this happens to some, and that it goes away. And it did but not entirely…which was not surprising as I had had occasional migraine aura without headache since I was

Post ablation
I had a cardiac ablation 2 days for PAfib . I’m feeling well and was told the procedure went smoothly. I had thought that after the procedure I would gradually reduce the medication over a period of perhaps 3 months or so. Instead I’ve been told to take the same dosage as before for 3 months and then

The natural compound atraric acid suppresses androgen-regulated neo-angiogenesis of castration-resistant prostate cancer ...
Came across this tonight. According to the investigators, a compound isolated from Pygeum africanum is the first naturally occurring AR antagonist. While papers on this isolate appear more than a decade ago, the detailed discussion of various mechanisms at play as Pca evolves from castration sensitive

Some interesting questions. Cost of cardioversion?
Hello everybody, Here are some interesting questions. I had 4-5 episodes of AFIB about 4 years ago. It ended with me getting an ablation in December of 2018. I had been AFIB-free 3.5 years. Last week I had an episode. My heart was not beating too fast and I was not feeling too bad. That's quit different

Eliquis/but easy bruiser
Hi, Thoughts: I have been diagnosed with PSVT and a 30 monitor detected only one episode of Afib. My apple watch is what prompted my seeing a cardio as it detected irregular heartbeats. I was on eliquis and no episodes and not spikes, so cardio said to stop taking it and see how it goes. Well, watch

Afib or palpitations?
Once in a while I get very irregular heartbeats after I go to bed at night. My Dr. said they are palpitations and not afib and did not occur during the 24 hour holter monitor, but I noticed a pattern as to when they occur: always after a very salty and probably MSG restaurant meal and a few drinks with

Pacemaker Afib
I have chronic Afib. Have had one ablation and currently on Tikosyn... so far, so good. But, is a pacemaker an option? If you have a pacemaker can you get off the Tikosyn and Diltiazem?

Eating after starting an Afib Episode?
Note: I am thinking about Paroxysmal rather than permanent Afib. I wondered about this and was surprised not to find anything here. Anyone care to share positive or negative experiences? So if you have made dinner and slip into Afib, would you still eat it? Or eat a snack if hungry? Have you perchance

Starting Lexapro - best time to take
Just starting Lexapro and am nervous about side effects. Don’t want additional anxiety. What is the best time of day to take it? Thanks!

Well, It's always something new and fun
Hey All.... Well, I have PAF and had a echocardiogram the first time in some years (new cardiologist, etc). So...discovered I have mitral valve leakage (regurgitatuon). It's moderate at this point with a EF of 60%. Hope that some others may have experience with this "combo". What has your journey

Oooops!!!
I have had a bit of a stomach bug for the last day or 2 and was just waiting for it to trigger my Afib. Lo and behold it happened this morning. Woke up fine and then boom Afib as soon as I moved my bowels. I have pill in the pocket and took it almost straight away. Normally this sorts me out in about

New to the medical field
I'm new to the medical field, as in less than 2 years of experience. I'm a SRNA at a LTC facility. Have a resident that went into Afib at the hospital. They had normal vitals (temp, pulse, O2, respirations and manual B/P) as they left my Facility less than an hour before they left. I'm just wondering

What *should* happen now?
Hello, thank you for taking the time to read - I had a cardiac device (ICD, like a pacemaker) fitted in 2017 and since then, my health has graduallydeclined (physically and cognitively). I am suspecting a link between the implant and trigger of autoimmune/foreign body response, but have been met with
