Online/Meet ups for people with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy struggling with Mental Health?
Hi everyone, so my partner was diagnosed with HC when he was 14. Been in great shape and only having medication for his condition up until 2016/2017, then 41, he was advised to have an ICD. Since then he's had 3 occasions where the device has delivered shock therapy and unfortunately the last 2 occasions

Post ICD Implant-week 2
Hi all, I was hoping to get some feedback/advice from ideally ladies who have undergone ICD implant surgery. Today marks two weeks from getting an ICD. It is placed under the muscle and towards my armpit, over my left breast. I have been slowly building up some movement and a walking routine back

Dofetilide
I have afib and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy along with a history of 3 ablations and 7 cardioversions. I recently started taking Dofetilitde after the required 3 day hospital stay. IT is now 10 day later and I still have passing epidodes of afib. I am interested to hear about anyone else on defetilide

Cardiac MRI Scan
I was referred by the electrocardiologist for an MRI to assess the scar tissue etc before looking at an ICD... Went along this morning and couldn't do it. This is the 2nd time I've tried an MRI (last time was a back injury) and the 2nd time I've had to pull out almost immediately due to the claustrophobia

Distended stomach & abdomen after ablation
Bit of a strange one this, so thought I'd ask if anyone else has had a similar experience and a diagnosis. I had my 2nd catheter ablation 4 days ago under Gen Aanaesthetic; the ablation, plus cardioversion, seems to have gone well (allowing for it being very early days) and the groin wound is healing

Statins
I had 2 HA in 2021. I have been on the usual medication since. I ended up with severe EF and now have an ICD. Recent blood tests have shown I have a lowered blood platelet. I am booked in with my GP on 15//2 but am concerned what is causing this. I have read it could be Statins. Is there anyone out there

Hi, I am currently suspended from driving following a syncope event brought on by an as yet undetermined single ventricular tachycardia event. Investigations as to type and cause still happening.Whatever I am being advised I will have an ICD fitted. What are your real world experiences on how long it

Humidity and AF
Hi all. Here in SW England we’ve had such heavy, humid weather the past few days. Does anyone else struggle with more breathlessness and fatigue in these conditions? I have persistent AFib and normally get a bit puffed, but this seems twice the normal load, Not to mention the havoc it has caused with

Update on post ablation - day 6
Hi. Well after posting such a positive message to try to cheer up anyone waiting for their first ablation, I came back down to earth with a bump. I felt so well on Wednesday (ablation on Tuesday) that I did everything I felt like doing but at about 01.30, I got a full-blown AF episode which I wasn't

How quickly do tablets work?
Day 1 of taking 2.5mg of bisoprolol and 60mg edoxaban...how quickly should the tablets start to work? Monitoring blood pressure and worried if the dosage is too high

Sotalol Drug Load
Scheduled to shift from Metoprolol and Diltiazem to Sotalol this next week. Choice of yet another ablation (6th one) was given but I figured, “why keep scarring up my heart?” Did I make the right decision? Seems to me ablations aren’t working and they just manage to damage my heart, albeit in a controlled

Reducing Apixaban dose
Has anyone else high blood pressure for number of years then in last few weeks it's been fairly low? Eg 104/73 at 9am. I know this is not too low but 2weeks ago I had a few seconds faint ( while sitting waiting for sandwich) I was with friends just after completing a walk with a bit of an incline. It

I have recently been diagnosed with AF after suffering palpitations and unexplained fluttering in my throat since 2016. I have been treated for a number of years for hypertension. I’ve been prescribed Adizem (after a trial of Bisoprolol made me feel zombie-like) and Edoxaban and being reviewed in a couple
