Hello fellow AFIBers,

I have recently prescribed Flecainide as a replacement anti arrhythmic for Mulaq for afib along with Diltiazem as second blood pressure medications. I am interested to know if any other afiber is taking such combination and his or her side effects.

thank you all

Hi

I take Diltiazem 120mg for rapid H/Rate during day.

I take. Bisoprolol 2.5mg for BP.

Because of severe dilation of left atrium I can't have Cardioversion, Ablation or Flec.

It's important to have an ECHO or MRI to check if your heart has normal structure.

Hello, I'm on flec and diltiazem for my paroxysmal afib , I changed to diltiazem as I can't take bisoprolol due to me having epipen . I have had very little issue if any with the combination, I take 5mg of flec twice a day and 60mg slow release diltiazem twice a day. No side affects for me, maybe my heart rate is a bit low, but that has no affect on me doing exercise etc. I am very happy with the combo, hope it works for you

thank you JOY2THWORLD49 for sharing your experience. I did have an ECHO before the medication was prescribed . I have only taken Flecainide for 10 days and maybe in time my system will adjust to tolerate the medications.

Hi

Hope you had ECHO before they did a cardioversion on you.

Flec is a danger med for some if your heart functions are not working 100%. They can make things worse. Needs to be monitored very carefully.

Take care, JOY

I take both in a low dose which seems to be fine for me. I did once take 100 mg of flecainide twice a dy which made me feel ill but when the dose was halved with dilitiazem I was good to go. Hopefully you will ok, possibly a bit more tired than normal. Let us know how you go on with these meds.

Thank you bassets for your encouragement and good wishes. First week on the 50mg of Flecainide twice a day and Diltiazem 120mg once a day along with Eliquis 5mg twice a day worked well. Yesterday which was my ninth day on the meds there were skip beats that lasted for couple of hours . I have left a word for the cardiologist and I am waiting his instructions.

Hello execz1 , I take 300 mgs of slow release Diltiazem 50 mgs of losartin and 2.5 mgs of bisoprolol at night ..along with various other meds. Diltiazem has been very good for me as I am in permanent AF. Keeps the HR at a low rate.

Good to hear from you Antoinette. I am glad that you are doing well with your regime. I wish you continued success in controlling the beast .

love Flecainide 50 twice a day, metoprolol 25 in Am and 12.5 in pm.! Also take Eliquis 5 twice a day. This regimen started when my paroxysmal a fib episodes started to occur closer together. No side effects to speak of. I thought you would have been prescribed an anticoagulant. 🤷‍♀️ We are all treated individually but it’s so good to hear others’ experiences. I find it difficult to mentally adjust to taking meds but if this is what it takes to feel “normal” for me, I’ll do what I must. After almost two years on Flecainide, I will be having a nuclear stress test in May to keep an eye on things. Wishing you all good things❤️

Thank you Cos56 for sharing your successful experience with Flecainide . Yes I already was on Eliquis 5mg twice a day along with Multaq another anti arrhythmic drug that worked for a while but became ineffective and nearly two weeks ago was replaced with Flecainide.
