Ended up in hospital during the
Cisplatin
part of this treatment with a suspected bowel obstruction which was a horrible time, really thought that was it but managed to get things moving and carried on.

Experiences with Chemo
My mum has had her 2nd lot of chemo (
Cisplatin
and Pemetrexed) and is doing very well on it. she has Lepto met which was affecting her speech a fair bit - after the 2nd chemo the speech got really bad then improved dramatically which we are hoping is a sign the chemo passed the BBB.

She is to have chemotherapy ( Etoposide and
Cisplatin
) and radiotherapy 5 days a week, for 6.5 weeks, as an operation to remove is too dangerous because of the cancer also being in her lymph glands in the centre of her chest.

Cisplatin versus Carboplatin
I know it is not possible to generalise on side effects but does anyone have any advise/experience on switching from
Cisplatin
to Carboplatin for these reasons or on numbness caused by Carboplatin?

Mum diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer - The fight is on!!
She starts chemo a week today with a combination of
cisplatin
and pemetrexed. Our focus has been to keep her positive (she really is, actually amazingly so) and keeping her fit and healthy.

How do you stay positive?
Shortly after the diagnosis i had an upper left side lobectomy followed by 4 rounds of very tough Chemo with
Cisplatin
and Navelbine. It turned out to be EFGR Positive so I was told I would enter a trial that uses Tarceva.

Richter Transformation treatments
I just know that I had two cycles of mini-LEAM, one of IVE and two of gemcitabine/dextamethasone/
cisplatin
. Has anyone else got rid of it with any of these? My consultant said he had not come across anyone before who had been successful with these treatments for Richter ttransformation.

Downhill again
Also the etopiside makes me feel awful when they are injecting it and the
cisplatin
don't seem to bother me at least while they are injecting, they say this is the opposite of what most people feel. Anyone else had that to happen?

Another round please
And another round of
cisplatin
thurs, etoposide fri and Saturday. They are planning for 6 weeks of radiation daily, I'm sure I will feel the effects this time probably more than first round, but I'm trying not to dread it too much.

Stage IV cancer recurrence
I will be starting
Cisplatin
and Gemzar along with the avastin that have been on. Is this just a waste time of time ? Do I really have a chance ? Has anyone Ben on these drugs? Is it as bad as taxol and carboplasin? Is there a chance for survival?

So far, so good
Did second dose of chemo ( only etoposide, steroids, zofran,) no
cisplatin
again for 3 weeks. No nausea or anything really bad so I feel pretty good about it. I felt a little bit fuzzy and tired when I woke up this morning so I'm kind of wondering if that will be worse in the morn .

Reclaiming my life. Where the process began.
My oncologists poison of choice was
cisplatin
and etoposide. I had 4 rounds of chemo and 30 rads treatments. It was indeed aggressive. And it kicked my patootie. Often, when thirsty, I would pick up my water bottle and fall asleep before it reached my mouth.
