AF and insulin
Hi. I've had AF for about 10 years but am new to here. Am a GUCH patient so slightly complicated. Have had cardioversions, an ablation, had my mitral valve replaced and a maze procedure and now have a single chamber pacemaker . Still have AF. It tends to come and go but 4 weeks ago I was put on insulin

Cardioversion for paroxysmal af?
My GP told me today that he is surprised I've not been offered a
Cardioversion
, I was surprised at him saying this as I thought they were only used for people in permanent af. Am I correct or are my suspicions that my GP knows sweetfannyadams about af incorrect? Answers on a postcard please

Cardioversion
After two more days where drugs could not control the heart rate, I had a
cardioversion
. They were happy with the result and an echocardiogram showed no abnormality of the heart. I thought I should be feeling great, but I'm not.

Teaching
Back on the ward, ended up talking to one of my first year students about
cardioversion
, ablation and related drugs and treatments........ don't think she was quite expecting to learn about cardiology when she came into Orthopaedics but she was quite intrigued by all the chatter I gave her, hope it stands

When Bisoprolol doesnt work?
I dont think
cardioversion
, ablation nor amiodorine have ever been mentioned, and unfortunately i still ahvent managed to see a dr myself to ask. She is still in an "assessment unit" being monitored as cardiac beds are all full - there are at least 3 patients with her waiting for a cardio bed.

Cardioversion
I read through here regularly and there
Cardioversion
is often reported as failed. Is this a procedure worth considering? If you take it is there a risk that AF could return worse than before

Hi folks. I'm 59, I've had 2 ablations, 3 cardioversions, and was part of a trial of a new implanted device called a Linq which was the size of 3 matchsticks in my chest and, via a handheld monitor and a router, transmitted my heart data to the hospital for nearly a year. A couple of months ago I started

Just a quick question, are patients routinely cardioverted after an ablation.

My story
I was booked in for an angiogram but this was cancelled when it was realised that I was to have a
CardioVersion
before the angiogram so will have to get the Warfarin levels right before the CV. I think a Cardio MRI is also to be scheduled. Still can't quite believe this has happened!!

Bisoprolol and funny tummy
I'm back in persistent AF after 10 months post
cardioversion
and I am now back on the dreaded bisoprolol. The thing is that since I've been taking it ( around 5 weeks now) I've had what I can only describe as a funny tummy.

Home again after successful cardioversion
Eventually they decided on a
cardioversion
yesterday, which was successful, so over a week in fast AF with all the attendant weariness that goes with it, plus feeling despondent at yet another possibly unsuccessful ablation.

Mum's been diagnosed
I say this as mum hasn't had a stroke before, and is 63yo so if the
cardioversion
works can't she stop the warfarin?

Living with rhythm changes.
Hi everyone, I have had atrial arithmia/flutter for nearly 12 years and had three ablations and one
cardioversion
and all have been reasonably successful, albeit for different periods of time. At present I am taking digoxin, sotalol, indapamide, perindopril and warfarin.
