BRCA2 mutation and PARP inhibitor in the castration sensitive
From the thread, and in another prostate cancer newsletter,
carboplatin
+ docetaxel have been suggested beneficial for men with DNA-repair defects. However there does not seem to be the volume of evidence as is the case for PARP inhibitors and the studies are on the castration resistant only.

Blood Transfusion?
The chemotherapy I'm on,
carboplatin
, is apparently notorious for causing anemia. Since I'm already anemic, my RBG has dropped to the lowest it's ever been (for me). I've tried IV iron and arinesp, an EPO like shot, and neither has boosted my counts.

Now have small cell prostate cancer
Started cabazitaxcel with
carboplatin
. Psa was at 78. First infusion was Monday. Looking at not so good news on mean survival rates. So what have we seen on trials? My MO is working all channels. So far just lymph glands, no liver or lung invasion.

Another Crazy Day
The CSN who rang whilst I was in A&E said it wasn't as bad as it sounds and the
Carboplatin
will help reduce the tumours. I have a face to face appointment with the oncologist March 26th and starting chemo again March 30th, which is much sooner than expected.

Next steps on recurrence
Diagnosed PPC Stage 3c Nov 19, finished first line chemo just
Carboplatin
(reaction to Taxol after 1 session) last May. Full debulking surgery in March, NED in June, as BRCA1 went straight onto Olaparib.

Total combat
At my current state of knowledge this means combining ADT (transdermal estrogen) with chemo (Jevtana or Docetaxel) as well as
Carboplatin
, plus second-line hormonal therapy perhaps Zytiga plus a PARP inhibitor since I have a BRCA2 mutation. Possibly low-dose Bicalutamid too.

New regime for Primary Peritoneal grade 4 and breast/axilla grade 3.
I reacted to paclitaxol so had chemo just with
Carboplatin
. In Autumn I was ready for debulking surgery and following that Avastin and more
Carboplatin
. An unrelated breast mass was found with axilla lymph node spread. Mastectomy and node clearance 3 weeks ago..

carboplatin

Neuropathic pain in the limbs and neck
Had surgery and chemo -
Carboplatin
and Paclitaxel. Now I'm on Bevacizumab. Next mount will be the last infusion. I have pain in my limbs and neck for months now. Sometimes I don't have the strength to stand on my feet. I can't bend my head to the sides.

RISE IN CA 125
I’m more than worried as I’ve already had
Carboplatin
, Carb/Caelyx, Niraparib and Rucaparib. Taxol was my last hope but I pray there’ll be something else out there for me. The oncologist said there is always something else but he doesn’t want to kill me.

Have I really reached the last hitching post. Its truly surreal.
At the risk of being mellow dramatic, I have recently been disqualified from a clinical trial bombesin) due to lack of expression on the Psma pet scan, prior to this brief attempt at a novel clinical trial I was on my 6th round of
carboplatin
and cabataxal, my M.o informed me of a couple more trials

Should I get a port/ PICC or just hold off?
Hi Lovely Ladies, I have just started second line chemotherapy (
carboplatin
/ caelyx) after a rather short remission. My veins are now described as "shy' and it can be a bit of battle to get cannula in, but one I can cope with( and so far they've always managed).

Nivolumab effective treatment for malignant mesothelioma.
Malignant mesothelioma is an intractable cancer, and no phase III trial has yet shown an improvement in overall survival following the standard first line chemotherapy doublet comprising pemetrexed and cisplatin or
carboplatin
since it was licensed in 2004.

Hoping for some advice
The drugs he will be given are alimata and
carboplatin
by drip every three weeks. These drugs seem to carry so many unpleasant side effects and I worry that he will become weakened by this treatment. Can anyone advise - or perhaps has had the same or similar treatment.

What to know before chemo
About to start chemo with
carboplatin
and cabazitaxil. Interested in opinions about icing feet and hands to ameliorate neuropathy. Also interested in fasting prior to chemo to reduce side affects.

After 1st recurrence and 6th chemo, what's next?
We continued with Doxitaxel and
carboplatin
after favorable result of her ct scan post 3rd chemo. The doctor was surprised that there were no more lymphadenopathies seen. But then immediately brushed off our happiness by saying that it will SURELY come back.
