Sinemet: factors affecting variability - gastric emptying
Sage et al 1994 summarily present factors which affect availability of levodopa. Roos et al 1993 compare C/L levels after empty-stomach ingestion with C/L levels after C/L has been ingested with a meal. Chen et al 2012 describe a newer form of controlled release Sinemet: gastric-retentive extended-release

My Sinemet CR plus IR protocol
I take one 50/200 CR plus one half of 25/100 IR every 4 hours. Also, amantadine, 100 mg twice per day. Also, 10 mg methylphenidate once per day. The CR + IR at 2,6,10 am and 2,6,10 pm. I am still in a rehab facility wherein pd meds and meals -served times are almost always in conflict. 7.45 am and 11.45

Pharmacy errors - given wrong medication.
Yesterday went to pick up my sinemet CR at the pharmacy. Stayed in the car, my husband went to get it. When I called in the prescription I asked for three months refill. It felt really light so I decided to take a look at it, I'm glad I did. It was only for a month however it must have been sinemet IR

Meds not working after starting taking at bedtime
My sinemet worked fine for quite a while but I was having trouble sleeping due to stiffness so I began to take sinemet CR 200/50 at bedtime. Once I started doing this my meds during the day dropped off. They used to work for 4-5 hours each dose but now they only work for 2 hours each dose. Has anyone

Opicapone
Has anyone tried opicapone with Sinemet cr. I have been told you can't take them together. As I take Sinemet cr through the day but it's not lasting very long now only about hour and a half and I wanted a way to extend it. In fact has anyone had experience of opicapone and whether it smooths out Sinemet

Insomnia and Sinemet
I have posted before about night time meds. I have taken Sinemet plus and entecapone 4 times a day, rasagaline, 24mg ropinirole (split into three doses). Have been taking sinemet cr at 11pm for a while as I felt that I needed some PD meds during the night. However it never seems to do anything. I

Pd, prostate and back
Hi I've had pd 15 years. Had back decompression operation March 2017, further back operation August 2017. Had them done privately, mainly because NHS in UK makes no concessions to my pd, refuses to treat the whole person and wouldn't let my wife give me strictly-timed pd drugs. To add to my problems

New PSP Diagnosis
Hi, After 3 years living with a PD diagnosis, my husband's new dr believes he has PSP. I have read some info about this, but wonder how a definite diagnosis could be made. It seems from what I read that PSP is worse than PD. I pray the dr is wrong, but we would like to know for sure. He has never

Is rytary the same as madopar CR?
I have just had a terrible weekend due to a hopelessly ill-informed non-specialist GP (substituting for the consultant neurologist at an outpatient appt) telling me to change my 3 hourly 125 madopar to 125 madopar CR (slow release) plus 62.5 capsule. Within 24 hours I had completely lost the plot.

Half Sinemet CR
I have only been taking meds for 3 months, Sinemet x 3 low dose. Worked wonders for lifting my energy level, removing anxiety and helping with rigidity and had no more freezing. Now neurologist feels I could benefit from adding Half Sinemet CR at night to help with minor tremor (whole of right hand side

In South Africa there is a shortage of Sinemet-CR, the rumors are that it's going to be 18 months before there is available stock!

sinemet cr
I'd like to hear from those who have tried sinemet cr. I just started taking it this week along with regular sinemet and amantadine and it seems to be helping a great deal.
