healthunlocked.com/afassoci... a quick update re link above. We got the call on Thursday for Mike to be admitted yesterday for bypass surgery, aortic valve replacement and Atrial appendage clip. The hospital is spotless and every member of staff was kind and understanding on admission and we met a lot! Slight embarrassment as neither of us recognised consultant as he popped in, in jeans and t shirt!!
So today is the day! I am so pleased my daughter has driven up and can stay till Wednesday. The hospital is an hour's drive away so I will only visit in daylight hours once she goes back. Not helped by road works!!
On the positive side.Consultant said that aortic valve replacement is not a reason to stay on warfarin and can go onto a doac. His INR has been a bit iffy since he stopped warfarin for angiogram. I know I know, I'm jumping ahead with trivia!!

Nothing quite like seeing the consultant in t-shirt and jeans! May the day go well and trouble free, your husband make a speedy recovery, and the force be with you at the roadwork traffic lights! Thinking of you - remember to relax with deep breaths and plenty of fluids.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised with our stretched NHS but husband nil by mouth until 2pm today then cancelled as no ICU beds available. 2 hour round trip to fetch him then back Thursday for Friday, rinse and repeat!!
This happened when my stepfather had his bypass in 2007. Unfortunately we were up in the air flying to the UK to look after my mother and he was back home by the time we arrived! I insisted on speaking to the ward sister to ensure he was actually on the table the next time before I booked my flight. Better luck next time.
That's what we are doing re support from daughter 200 miles away who arrived to takes us as an hours ride and I'm not in the first flush of youth!! Now I've done it a couple of times feel more confident.
Hope the op goes to plan, he recovers well and he is home soon. My partner has aortic root and valve replacement on 12 December so know how you are feeling x
Thank you for taking time to reply. Yes it's difficult to describe the feelings. grateful something is available and in our case no ageism ( he's 80) Then hoping my issues don't kick off, I'm usually fine in a crisis just not so good after!! I guess you may feel similar?Do let us know how it goes. X
I do hope all is well. We sometimes worry about our other halves more than ourselves, but lots of hugs to you both for his speedy recovery and that all goes well. Your biggest problem will be trying to keep up with him when he’s better !!!!!
