DLA appeal
I got a reply from DLA refusing to award me any rate for either mobility or care. I went to the CAB because the person who helped me do the form was almost sure I was going to get some help but he wasn't there. The person i spoke to didn't know much about this and his boss said to him that it wasn't

Update on Mum after Ileostomy ? Abraxane chemotherapy
Mum has made remarkable progress since her emergency ileostomy in March. She has today had the results of a scan performed last week. She has been advised that there is a raise in her CA125 from 155 to 281, but the scan shows minimal disease. The thought is that no treatment is needed at the moment

It's difficult to cope with PSP
My dear mother, who will be 89 in two weeks, was diagnosed with PSP on 30 April last year. Over the previous 3 years, she had increasingly suffered many falls, the last one on Aug 31 2011 resulted in her breaking her neck. Miraculously, she has recovered from the neck injury having undergone surgery

Singulair Paediatric- 4mg
My little was diagnosed with asthma 12 months ago, he's 3 yrs old and suffers really badly with it. Yesterday i had to take him to an out of hours surgery and Dr there prescribed him Singulair Paediatric 4mg. The Dr told me to give him the tablet every night before bed, it has to be sucked or chewed.

What to do today?
So you wake up. slowly! stiff.... I so hate that! with the agility of a wooden top.... and closely resembling one too! The whole day is ahead, and you need to seize it! Well I do, I don't like to waste time, every moment is precious and I don't do 'slow' mentally that is. If I started to document my

Have you ever had a head trauma, before your PD diagnosis?
When I was fourteen years-old, I was hit by a car going 45 MPH and was knocked unconscious for two days. Last year, at age 36, I was diagnosed with early-onset PD. I've spoken with two other early-onset PD patients in the last month and they both had a serious head injury / trauma when they were

Growing old! by Robert A. Dixon If we are born, the future is clear No one knows how we'll get out of here Health and money, who the hell knows We'll be lucky if born, with all twelve of our toes From birth to our death, how long is the time No one knows, and that's not a crime What is a

Taking control...a little
I've been making an effort this week to take more control of my health. I phoned the GP surgery and confirmed my rheumatology referral has been done at last. I've stuck to my calorie controlled diet and cut out alcohol. I've invested in some multi vitamins and glucosamine/omega 3 capsules. Although

Not allowed to wear coats at playtime??!
Hi everyone My 8 year old daughter is the asthmatic in our family and she has just started school. Previously we home schooled her. One of the many bizarre rules at her school is that the children are not allowed to wear their coats/jackets outside at playtime. I've been trying to ring the school

A Treasured Gift!
I am not one for giving and receiving of expensive gifts, for me what makes a gift special is the thought that goes into it. You can keep your expensive jewelry, and hi tech gadgets, they are not for me. And during this current time when money for many people is tight, splashing out on expensive gifts
