No more active surveillance for me
I spent quite a long time going back and forth between HDR
brachytherapy
and finally settled on the 5 course SBRT at UCLA with Dr. Chris King. By this point, my PSA had risen to 7 from 6, in the course of a year.

SBRT v. Brachytherapy for Favorable Intermediate Risk
If I treat, is SBRT as good as
brachytherapy
? RO says healthy tissues (urethra) get more radiation with SBRT. I know TallAllen likes SBRT. Why is it superior to
brachytherapy
, other than less invasive? Thanks.

Metastatic endometrial carcinosarcoma - not for treatment
My mum was treated for endometrial carcinosarcoma 4 years ago (chemo and
brachytherapy
). She was discharged earlier this year and given the "all clear". Over the last few months, she's just appeared exhausted all of the time, the colour has literally drained from her eyes.

Diagnosed in July
Urologist recommended either
brachytherapy
OR external beam and my choice on ADT. Oncologist said nope...”you need ADT,
brachytherapy
AND external beam.” I was kind of PISSED at why there was such a discrepancy!

Update On My Metastatic Prostate Cancer
In 2018, PET scan and lymph node biopsy confirmed metastasis of my prostate cancer to many lymph nodes, originally diagnosed as low volume Gleason 3 + 3 in 2011 and treated with
brachytherapy
in 2011 followed by Cyberknife and ADT for an extra-capsular recurrence in 2016-2017.

PSA lows and highs - 1yr after radiation HDR Brachytherapy
I had HDR
brachytherapy
one year ago. After treatment, my 3 month PSA test showed a 2.5 and three months later it was 1.7. Now, one year later, it is back up to 2.7. I will have to see it drop back down to make it a “bounce,” which would be a positive: pcnrv.blogspot.com/2018/03/...

Will Lupron Shrink Prostate
Want to start
Brachytherapy
Boost but prostate is currently to large. Two months on Casadex has improved urine flow which is a positive for reduced prostate so Dr wants to try 3 month Lupron injection. Anyone have similar experience trying to reduce prostate size?

German Innovation Offers New Alternative to Traditional Prostatectomy and Brachytherapy.
The video link will describe briefly Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) now being offered in San Diego. On the link page you can hear Dr. Stehling provide an overview of the procedure he helped develop in Frankfurt, Germany. The results of the NanoKnife seem very impressive given typical concerns about

ADT with Brachytherapy and EBRT
Just finished up with my Radiation Oncologist and due to the aggressive form of my Prostrate Cancer ( many core samples with Gleason 10) it was suggested I do ADT for a few months then do EBRT for 5 weeks and then
Brachytherapy
( can be done with Brachy first) and continue ADT for up to 2 years.

Survival after radiotherapy vs. radical prostatectomy for unfavorable intermediate-risk prostate cancer
• "RP had better survival compared to EBRT alone and
brachytherapy
alone. • "There was no significant difference in survival between RP and

plus ADT or EBRT >7920 cGy and ADT." ...........

Brachytherapy Boost
Hoping to learn more about best places to go for
brachytherapy
boost. I understand that experience is important here as it is with surgery. Gleason 9, (4+5) 12 cores, two 8’s and three 7’s. some possible extracapsular extension. Clean bone scan. Enlarged prostrate.

Just getting started
We discussed different radiotherapy - LDR & HDR
brachytherapy
, external beam radiation alone, and Sterostatic Body Radiation Therapy [SBRT] - which they suggested might be a good course of treatment in my case.
