Biologics - when/did you move up to them?
Trying to get a measure of the stages and various meds that treat lupus, and wondering if/when anyone was moved up to biologics like
Belimumab
and Rituximab.

Been coughing for 3months
I recently started on
Belimumab
in January 2023 and suspect it may have something to do with these infections I keep getting but right now I have no clue what to do. has anyone experienced such a condition and what remedies or meds helped?

CHANGE OF BIOLOGIC TREATMENT
Hello, I have had Rheumatoid arthritis since my late 30s (77 now). I had several biologic treatments , some of which did not really control the RA well… The best biologic was Enbrel (Etanercept) weekly injections. It gave me my life back for 14 years until I had my second knee replacement operation

Golimumab v. Rituximab? What is others' experience?
After being advised of liver and lung problems attributed to long term use of methotrexate (10mg weekly subcut), it has been suggested I move from a combination of Golimumab/methotrexate to Rituximab alone. From a layman's point of view, apart from a persistent cough) my RA was under perfect control

Elevated Vitamin A in serum with no supplements
Hi, And sorry, this may not be the right place to post this, but in a recent blood test my serum vitamin A level was registered at 99.5mcg/dL with the lab's reference levels between 30 and 80mcg/dL. I've had vitamin A tested only once before in April last year and it too was high at 99.3. Does anyone

hello, I have my first
belimumab
injection next week. Does anyone have any tips? I’m a bit nervous because I had a different biologic years ago for cancer treatment and found it pretty hard going.

An indicator in the blood could guide lupus treatment
A clinical trial (called “BEAT-Lupus”) has found that using a combination of two biologic treatments, rituximab and
belimumab
, may be more effective than using rituximab alone in patients who have not responded well to other treatment.

Lupkinis plus MMF most effective in lupus nephritis; tacrolimus safest
Patients receiving IV cyclophosphamide were 75% less likely to achieve a complete response than those treated with tacrolimus, and 92% less likely than those treated with Benlysta (
belimumab
) plus MMF. Benlysta is an antibody designed to reduce the production of disease-causing autoantibodies.

Paul Howard to step down as LUPUS UK Chief Executive
There are several developments during my time as Chief Executive of LUPUS UK that I am proud to have overseen: • NICE recommendations for the first two medicines (
belimumab
and voclosporin) to be licensed specifically for the treatment of lupus.

But I am in the middle of a biologic therapy,
Belimumab
. So extra suppressed immune condition. I have so far managed to stay away from any sort of invasive procedure. So this is a bit scary and worrying for me.
