Stopping Atrovent
Hi all, hope everyone is keeping well! my asthma has been really unstable over the past year or so (had 5 admissions this year already!) i was on a trial of Xolair which made no difference to my spirometery and very little difference to my quality of life so they stopped it, but they have also stopped

The loud gurgle rattle when my husband breaths is often mistaken as a death rattle when new hospice staff come to see him.
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? It can be very discomforting when the nurses mention this to family members. We dry up secretions with atropine drops but my husband does not seem bothered by the rattle. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi guys, I haven't been around in a long while, but I supposed my asthma was O.K. for a bit, or at least I had other health and life issues to deal with! And then my doctors have been giving me a bit of the run around with some of my symptoms, but I'm convinced they

Atropine Drops
Tony was recently prescribed Atropine drops under the tongue to help dry excessive secretions in the mouth. Having used them occasionally I can report that the results have been very encouraging. If anyone else is troubled by dribbling, please ask your GP about Atropine. It has certainly helped Tony.

Atrovent
Has anyones little one had this and what was it used for/with? I am a little confused as if this is a preventer or reliever, some ppl I have spoken to have used it for both! The reason I am asking is because Isaac was given this to try instead of his salbutamol (to check if sal was making him hyper

Nebs v Inhalers?!?!
My daughter is 3 years old and a brittle asthmatic - in the last 4 weeks we've needed 4 courses of pred and antibiotics! We've also had 4 hospital stays - on our second to last discharge the Dr suggested not to give my daughter 4 hourly nebs and swap over to inhalers instead as these are proven to be

What next for my poor little girl?!
My gorgeous little girl was put on a maintenance dose of pred last month. It eased the daily symptoms she was getting of exercised induced asthma for example. Prior to this she could only walk 50m without becoming breathless. Since beig on daily pred she can walk further and sleep better without regular

Hi Im new here and my 7 month old Son has asthma. Since he was about 5 days old he has been really wheezy, chesty and sometimes struggles to breath. The midwife and health visitor kept saying that it was just the muscus on his chest and it would go. Only it didnt. Anyway he was diagnoised with asthma

Weight loss in a child on high steroids?
Well Maddie is 2 and a half. She is on so many meds, including maintenance pred 3mg daily and pulmicort 2mg daily. As well as montelukast, serevent, atrovent, omeprazole, ventolin, ceterizine. Anyway she's always been a little chunk! Cuddly shall we say! She was put on maintenance pred about 8 weeks

What inhalers do your children have?
I'm interested to see what inhalers other people's children take as I think my 4 year old twins may be about to get their's changed and I want to get myself informed so I know what the consultant is talking about! Oliver is currently on flixotide 2 puffs twice a day. He also has atrovent 1 puff 3 times

New to asthma, but what about Chickenpox?
Hi there, I am completely new to asthma and finding the whole experience a little overwhelming! My son Ollie is 15 months old and has always wheezed with every cold or viral infection. He had bronchiolitus when he was 3 months old and since then has been given Atrovent inhalers whenever he wheezes

GP just not helping!
My 3 year old son has had a rather bad cough for a couple of weeks now, particularly troublesome in the early part of his sleep and upon waking. After a week I took him to the GP as I was worried because he was 'maxed out' on his inhalers ie the recommended 10 puffs salbutamol and 2 puffs atrovent,

Hello everyone, my son is 10 yrs old and has been diagnosed with asthma for 5yrs. In the last 6 months his asthma has gotten worse. He was on an accuhaler seretide 250 but it had to be lowered to a 100 seretide accuhaler due to side effects. He was also on an Intal inhaler but this has now been changed
