Talking about Medication
I guess I have taken most of the medications mentioned on this site but have settled (for some time) on Symbicort (three puffs a day) and Spiriva (one puff). Atrovent, Ventolin either as a MDI or nebuliser really have no noticeable effect. Also tried OnBrez but it made my breathing worse (like a lead

To wheeze or not to wheeze!
I am really just getting so frustrated and down lately regarding my asthma. It's as if I'm being punished as a result of being a lifelong asthmatic who is perfectly capable of identifying and attempting to manage their own symptoms. For example, I know after having a cold for 1-2 weeks that in all probability

Hello Everyone, My name is Martin and I have Stage 4 Emphysema
. I was first diagnosed in 2000.My meds are currently Symbicort 400/12 and Spiriva. Prednisone and Zithromycin when having an exacerbation. I have tried Onbrez, but it made it harder for me to breathe for at least an hour and I did not see any benefit. Also I have taken the usual Ventolin and Atrovent

Husband with COPD
I have been asthmatic since I was 5, now COPD, but my husband was diagnosed after I mentioned to his doctor that his breathing often seemed 'laboured'. After a spirometry test the doctor gave a diagnosis of mild COPD and he prescribed Atrovent - to be taken as and when he needs it. The problem is

Inhalers??????
For the last few days, I've been feeling a bit down, as if an infection was starting. But no fever, a little more mucus than usual, but otherwise just a bit listless and lacking energy, and getting breathless more easily than usual. Those of you who know me, know that last year I had pulmonary valves

What Medication Are You Taking? And What Side Effects Do You Think You Have From Each One?
Each time I visit my Dr's surgery to ask for a repeat prescription I forget what I am meant to be taking, should'nt they have this on the computer? It takes a couple of visits to actually get these ordered because I get there and forget to bring them with me. It doesn't help when the receptionist wants

Atrovent
So...slightly confused here re Atrovent. Anyone else on it and have experience/opinion/things they've been told on how often you can/should take it? I'm taking it as a reliever atm as directed by GP and now former cons at St Mary's- he said Ventolin might be adding to problems as I was using it a lot

GP rationing my ventolin - very scared
Hi everyone, my name is Selina, and this is my first time posting on this forum. I'm 56, widowed, and have suffered rom severe asthma all my life, and more recently, COPD. Last month my GP drastically reduced my Ventolin inhalers from one a week to one every two weeks. He claimsI was over-using it.

A good appt this time!
Since I seem to moan a lot about appts, just thought I'd say that I had a really good one this morning! Just been to the Docs this morning. Keeping me on Atrovent, it must be working it stops the wheez I get first thing in a morning. I'm still occasionally bringing dark green phlegm up, a couple of times per month I'd say. Dr says she can't hear anything on my chest and it's clear of infection. I've
