24 hour monitor
My paroxysmal AF was not picked up on a 24 hour monitor. I was checked a couple of times over a 5 year timespan and told that I just had lots of ectopics. Finally, when it became more severe the GP eventually relented and booked me in for a seven day monitor whcich picked up the atrial fibrillation

bisoprolol reduction
Thank you everyone for your replies. After my visit to A and E on Sunday the doctor told me to take an additional 1.25mg of bisoprolol for 3 days so now taking 2.50mg per day. I think I was a little naive but trusted the hospital to reduce to 1.25 after my cardioversion he said my heart rate was

Paroxysmal and permanent Afib
Does anybody know when paroxysmal Afib becomes permanent? I was diagnosed with paroxysmal Afib towards the end of 2022, after I had been fitted with a Linq loop recorder. I was only ever having short episodes lasting up to 8 hours, then on 13th October just gone I started with an episode which is still

Covid vax and AFIB
just as an FYI, I had a Covid vaccination (Pfizer) a couple of days ago and I developed AFIB within a few hours. It did resolve itself overnight after I took extra metoprolol.

Stopping Sotolol after ablation - fast HR and breathless
Hello, I am an ablation for Paroxysmal AFib and Flutter on 11th July. All went well. As well as AFib I used to get long periods ( a week or more) of other arrhythmia -PACs, SVTs, PVCs. They told me the ablation might not help stop these. During the 3 month blanking period, had some days of chest

Interesting to know...
If you had the idea that AF is reserved for us, humans, you were wrong. It is kinda catching, lol, so our pets can also have AF problems. Here a passage from an article, talking about AF in cats and dogs and the interdependence of heart size and the probability to have AF (allegedly, larger hearts (sportsmen

Hi you lovely people. long story so I’ll keep it short. Iv had 3 ablations and have a history of palpitations. went to GP asked for a monitor because I’m getting ectopics frequently. He said NO need but come for ECG in 2days and bloods.!! I wasn’t happy so asked to be referred to a cardiologist

What’s an acceptable rate?
so I’m back in afib, doctor sent me home with 2.5mg of bisoprolol and also blood thinners. At moment my heart rate when not doing a lot (sitting down watching tv) is around 90-100bpm. Sometimes In the 70s and 80s and even lower 60s and possible 50s when asleep! So basically I’d say my base rate is

Cardioversion/Ep study
I recently had an Ep study to determine whether I had SVT or Afib., even though I had been diagnosed in 2021 with Paroxysmal Afib. The cardiologist said it was a long shot but if it was SVT he would ablate it. Unfortunately throughout the procedure my heart went into Afib and they had to cardiovert

a flutter ablation versus a fib ablation
I’m a 70-year-old male that’s had four ablations all unsuccessful. Three years ago I had a pacemaker being my pulse rate, went down to 25. I’ve tried Tyson and that worked get me back in rhythm but I had to go off because my QT number was very long and they were concerned about sudden death. They put

Advice regarding setting of expectations ahead of cardiology appointment would be appreciated.
AF since March 23. Currently only really experiencing breathlessness on inclines. No experience of HR over 100 (as far as I know). Devices confirm persistent AF since March. Echo revealed a few mild heart failure issues and recommended cardiology review, which is due in a couple of weeks. My question

Afib worse since Ablation
I had Covid in Oct 2022. I was 57 at the time and in really great shape. I exercise everyday, average about 15,000 steps a day and fast 2 to 3 days a week. As my Covid was winding down and I was feeling better I started having Afib Episodes for the first time in my life. They started off

How do I know I’m in Afib ?
Diagnosed with afib about 6 weeks ago. Was being treated for tachycardia prior to this, with Diltiazem 120mg x 2d. . Now on 180mg Diltiazem x 2 day, plus Edoxaban. I wasn’t aware of myself being “ in afib” until I was seen by gp. I’ve read lots of comments here where people seem to know when they

Mitral valve (moderate)regurgitation and AF.
Has anyone with AF been diagnosed with MVR? What is the treatment, can you still have an ablation or perhaps......this may not be needed if the valve is repaired? To me it does seem pointless having an ablation if the Regurgitation is the cause of AF and this is not addressed first. On the plus side

When you talk about heart rate on here . Do you mean the red pulsing heart ? On Apple Watch .
I’m starting to ignore the ecg as it’s getting me and hubby confused so concentrating on the red heart on the Apple Watch . As I think the ecg counts the flutters from the top part of the heart thst gets confused with the electrical signals . The heart function nurse said that digoxin can mask the problem
