Does Afib cause Strokes or not?
I watched a video by Dr Sanjay Gupta in which he theorised that it does not and then quoted various research to the contrary and pointed out that anti-coagulants are prescribed only if you have the standard risk factors for stroke, independent of your Afib. Is this a widely held view? Thanks for any

5 Books That Have Helped Me
Here are 5 books that have helped me navigate my way through afib as a “lifestyler”, as I manage and reduce (and hopefully someday eliminate) my afib through lifestyle changes. There are of course many other books and resources out there for us. I hope other people here will add their own favorites.

A question about diltiazem.
It is 4 am here in the US. I went into AFIB about 3am. Pulse ranges from 60 bpm to 126bpm. I took 50 mg flecainide at 3 am. Cardiologist said to take that if my heart rate was over 100 bpm. I take 120 mg of diltiazem every morning at 8 am. Do you know if 120 mg is as much as you should take in

AFib, exercise and meds
I was diagnosed with symptomatic persistent AF about 18 months ago. I had one cardio version but only stayed in NSR for 24 hours. After a decline and short stay in hospital, I was put on bisoprolol and amiodarone which has kept me in sinus rhythm for the last year with only a couple of minor AF episodes

More ectopics!
So I had bad run of ectopics that started a couple of years ago... got everything checked countless times... ECG monitors, 24hr tape etc and even an ultrasound. Confirmed ectopics but was told they’re harmless. They’ve started up again and feeling loads every day and still making me feel very anxious

Permanent Afib and alcohol
I’m in permanent Afib and don’t appear to have any food or drink triggers that I know of making my symptoms worse. Once lockdown eases and I’m allowed friends in the garden to visit for a few drinks, how much can I safely drink in one nigh? I usually have lower alcohol wine. I want to enjoy life

AF and Autoimmune disease, hypothyroidism
What came first, the chicken or the egg? Anyone else have similar underlying conditions? Two and a half weeks ago I had first ablation. I stayed in sinus rhythm for 11 days and back in a fib. Had a cardio version and hope to stay in NSR. Have been researching a lot about underactive thyroid, (or

Bisoprolol
Have been on 5mg twice per day for months now as well as Degoxin and Enestra ? Fell a bit tired during the day at times and don’t sleep like I used to. But it’s got my heart rate down to around 70bpm and blood pressure 105/85 so medication doing it’s job but all these medications have side effects

Has anyone experienced Afib/Ecoptics when you're watching something intense like an action movie or speaking about something with emotion?
I notice that my Afib or ectopics always happen not when i'm exercising or active but when I'm sitting down and thinking, watching something or talkin to someone with "emotional intensity" plus I'm very tired. I guess that could be the triggers then right? Like high tide emotional intensity which causes

Rate control strategy
Does anyone just take a fast acting metoprolol or Diltiazam when they go into AFIB, vs. taking a slow release 24 hour dose every single day. It almost seems my AFIB comes on easier when my heart rate and blood pressure is in the low range. Thanks!

Evening! In the past I have suffered from episodes of passing out and my EP believed it’s as a result of the drop in blood pressure rather than Heart rate and possibly not linked to reverting into sinus and vice versa. I suffer from PAF and am on 2.5mg bisoprolol and flecainide (50mg am and 100mg pm

AHI on CPAP - Relation to ectopics/Afib
Sleep Apnea folks on CPAP,...Have you observed a relationship between your overnight AHI and your burden of Ectopics and/or Afib the next day? I have mild/borderline Sleep Apnea, apparently only while on my back. I am limited to a pressure of 6.5 due to severe Aerophagia (Swallowing air/gas). I've

Scans and Ultrasounds and Biopsys
Hi, just asking for a little advice Thyroiditis flared up again (it happens almost annually). My GP scanned and did bloods - bloods were normal as usual (sigh) but scans showed that my nodes have grown and changed. He sent me to a new endo after the anti-inflams made no difference. Endo wants to

Told to stop Amiodarone immediately.
Today I had a letter from the hospital saying that I should stop taking Amiodarone straight away. Last week I rang my GP to ask for an ECG because I felt that I was back in sinus rhythm (my BP machine supported this) I began Amiodarone on 19th January and I’m sure that it did the trick in that way.

Was diagnosed with AFib in Feb 20 during an operation under general anaesthetic. Next episode was in Aug 20 since then I have had attacks every 3-4 weeks. I had a private echocardiogram and consultation with a cardiologist Nov 20. Echo was normal and he laid out a 3 point plan, I am now on stage 2,
