Fed Up!
After losing a lot of weight I found out I have an overactive thyroid which was probably caused by being previously prescribed
Amiodarone
. Last week I saw my cardiologist for a consultation and it went OK. He has referred me for an ablation, so I guess that's one positive if all goes well.

Saw my EP last Thurday
OK options, well he mentioned 2,
Amiodarone
for 6 months and then a CV, but he’s not a fan due to the potential side effects and he says, it only tells us you can go back into NSR it won’t keep you there.

Overactive Thyroid
I was on
Amiodarone
for approx 18 months prior to April, but my last blood test was in February. I'm guessing the
Amiodarone
is the cause, but I have to attend a thyroid clinic for tests. If the tests prove the cause to be the
Amiodarone
does anybody know if the effects are reversible?

Questions
In this period I have changed medication to Flecainide (I was on Amiodarione for 16 months prior), back to
Amiodarone
and back to Flecainde, this is because I now have an overactive thyroid. I'm awaiting an appointment to see an Endo to address this.

Overactive Thyroid & Amiodarone
I'm also an Atrial Fibrillation sufferer and prior to April had been on an Anti Arrhythmia drug called
Amiodarone
for 18 months.
Amiodarone
is a drug that is quite high in iodine content and one of the known side effects is thyroid issues.

Amiodarone and Apixaban anyone?
He hopes that
Amiodarone
will regulate it but may need cardioversion to help. I'll be on Apixaban to anticoagulate as Dabigatran reacts with
Amiodarone
. Has anyone had similar treatment?

Hello, My boyfriend is slipping back into Afib after cardioversion six weeks ago.We saw his specialist today and asked about an ablation we were told because of the enlarged left atria the success rate wasn't very high and he'd need a second ablation. He has been on

Amiodarone side effect?
Started taking
Amiodarone
a few months ago, and returned to NSR quickly. Tried light exercise but had stomach cramps immediately. Ex runner, so pretty fit. Any views appreciated.

One Month Post RF Pulmonary Vein Ablation
I stopped taking
Amiodarone
2 weeks post ablation with medical agreement. I was put on it by Professor Schilling in February to make me ready for the ablation.

While taking
Amiodarone
I feel a tightness in the heart as though it is being contained, does anyone else feel this?

Confused
My AF started just short of two years ago and I was prescribed
Amiodarone
, which I soon learnt was not to be used in the long term, however in the 16 months I took it (I was only on 100MG every other day after loading), I had no issues other than sensitivity to sunlight.

Mini maze proceedure.
Hi everyone Not posted for a while, was hopeful that the last ablation in late April was going to be successful but no the dreaded beast has won again, even through 200 mg of
Amiodarone
a day. The palpitations are back.

Where to now!
He didn’t agree with the use of Flecinide, but suggested I reduce the
Amiodarone
to 50mgs per day. The thing that really irks me is that if it was just SVT than an ablation might work as I wanted to get off
Amiodarone
now I have no other option but to keep on taking

Don't ignore the side effects of drugs
The pneumonia triggered AF and the hospital put me on an
amiodarone
IV that was subsequently shown to compromise my liver function. So don't ignore that list of side effects as they may be masking something else. Meanwhile, back to the drawing board for the AF drugs.

I put this as a post by mistake, I just want to know from someone with permanent AF if it is normal to be out of breath...
I had a successful cardioversion last June and was kept on
Amiodarone
, Bisoporole, Losartan & Warfarin I was unable to see the Cardiologist at the 2 month follow-up & was kept on
Amiodarone
& Bisoporole (2.5mg) by his colleague & told to make an appointment in 6 months time after having the 24 hour

Back in AF after almost a year following a cardioversion and taking Amiodarone.
The cardiologist has told me to stop taking
Amiodarone
which was causing a few problems, and up the dose of Bisoporole and keep my hb at around 70. I am now taking 5 mg Bisoporole (before the cardioversion I was on 10).

Another DC Cardioversion
Was put on IV
Amiodarone
which did nothing,& so had emergency DCCV Fri pm in the cath lab. Reverted to NSR with a lovely heart rate of 65 bpm with one zap - took 7 mins. Absolutely nothing to worry about if anyone is concerned about having a cardioversion.

Increased heart rate 3 months after ablation
My follow-up appointment with my EP is not until July and I am still on all the same drugs (warfarin, bisoprolol and
amiodarone
) as I was before the ablation. My experience seems to be the opposite from what everyone else reports following an ablation! Thanks!
