Feeling breathless
I reacted very badly to the digoxin and
amiodarone
and that took ages to get through but I don't seem to feel better at all. Terry

Digoxin flecainide crazy
Fast forward got it under control with
amiodarone
, but my dr. Will thank god only allow you stay on it for a year. Thank god because it made me loose hair, gain weight and get eye floaters......but resulted in a healthy normal heart for my age 55 female.

A bit of a Quandary
I was prescribed
Amiodarone
when first diagnosed with AF. I stuck to this for 18 months and changed to Flecainide, everything was good. Not long after my AF episodes became weekly, all be it not very symptomatic.

I took
amiodarone
for 3 1/2 years and developed severe hyperthyroid. Currently taking 40mg prednisone and just added methimazole to try and control that.

Update from EP Visit
So we discussed next steps, and we have agreed that I am going onto
amiodarone
for at least 3 months, and they will attempt to cardiovert me again in 2 months time.

Amiodarone
I think I may be asked to take
Amiodarone
long term as it has put my heart back into rhythm!! Good news, they said--no need for a cardioversion now. Trouble is ,I don't want to take the drug as side effects can be horrendous , or so I'm told.

2 Ablations, 1 Cardioversion - what next?
Since then my medication has been increased and I am now on 200mg
amiodarone
and 10mg bisoprolol - more than I have been on before. I am still having episodes of AF up to 3 times a day.

AF
Started off on bisoprilol 2.5 and each time I was rushed in to hospital they upped my meds and put me on
amiodarone
this worked good but I had side effects with the
amiodarone
my skin was on fire in the sun, bath and if I was hot and bothered. Took me off
amiodarone
and went on dronedarone.

Insignificant Result from Angiogram.
The cardiologist reported his findings to me directly after the procedure and said that he would consider the next step and we will discuss in further detail but basically it would mean a 3rd ablation or
Amiodarone
. I don't relish either to be honest but need to do something.

Ablation or Medication?
I'm on
amiodarone
200mg and bisoporol 10mg, warfarin and a diuretic. left atrium measures 5.3. heart rate around 125.
Amiodarone
worked for six weeks and then I reverted back last week just before seeing EP. Docs up here in my area won't change meds to try others that I have requested.

Emergency appointment with Cardiologist
He also wasn't even sure whether
Amiodarone
would do anything. We appreciate being told it like it is, but some of what he said contradicts what I've read on this site. It's been depressing, to say the least. Sorry it's me writing but husband can't cope with medical stuff.

When will I ever feel better
This medicine won't get out of my system ( the
amiodarone
). I'm getting up and getting dressed each day but feel useless. Sorry for the moan but I almost feel like giving up. I just wish I'd read up about the
amiodarone
before all this happened.

I can only put developing Graves down to being on
Amiodarone
, even though the Endo's disagree.

Is my rate too high for too long?
Since taking
amiodarone
beginning just over three weeks ago, my heart rate became nicely regular, but the rate went from 110 or so to 130-135....consistently all day and all night. Bisoporol apparently is not working, nor has the former metoprolol.

Amiodarone & increased heart rate?
Does heart rate increase with
amiodarone
? Knowing size of LA, can another antiarrythmic be used? It seems that the AF diagnosis is more of a symptom and severe LA hypertrophy is the diagnosis...any thoughts on that? Many thanks.
