Alternative to Adcal-D3?
Hi, can anyone recommend an alternative to
Adcal
D3 tablets on prescription? I really find them revolting and far too sweet! Thank you for your help 😊

Timing of calcium supplements
I know that it is a no-no to take
Adcal
, Accrete etc within 2 hours of pred because the resultant 'soup' impedes the pred from being absorbed. But is this the case with gastric-coated pred? I notice that on the PIL it says it should be taken within 1 1/2 hours of a meal.

Prednisolone and when to take Adcal
I also wonder if
Adcal
if taken at the same time can have the same effect on other medications.

Should I consider increasing my prednisolone to cover Zoledronic acid infusion?
I was originally diagnosed with osteoporosis 4 years ago at the age of 52 and was managed initially with HRT and
Adcal
/Vit D3 which worked. Unfortunately last October I was diagnosed with PMR and commenced on Prednisolone 15mg o.d.

Weight Loss on prednisolone taper
Hi, I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia in January 2020 and have been on prednisolone, alendronic acid and
adcal
since then. I am tapering my prednisolone currently taking 6mg a day. I have lost 20lb in weight while reducing the prednisolone has anyone else experienced this?

Sudden onset of diarrhoea, possibly medication related? 1G twice daily Mycophenolate, 25mg Pred, Omep,Adcal
Only change was 5mg reduction to Pred, different brand of Pred, increase of
Adcal
from 1 to 2 daily (1500/400) He's 10 days into this now with no sign of a cause. So far GP has done physical exam, bloods are very good and improving week by week, stool samples all clear.

Zoledronic acid infusion for osteoporosis- I have to consider this
I let them bully me into taking
adcal
. I had terrible headaches. I was furious and insisted they refer me back to Nick Panay. He sent them a letter saying I couldn't do any harm to myself using progesterone but it made no difference.

When to take medication?
Now I have another question - I had been taking my
Adcal
with my thyroid meds ( thyroxine ) and have discovered I should not have been doing this as they don’t mix well together.

Kidney problems
I have recently started Anastrazole and
Adcal
and Alendronic Acid tablets for bone density. My cancer is progressing and I don't believe the Anastraxole is having any positive effect. I also have a morphine patch for pain relief.

Zoledronate
Up till now I have just been taking
Adcal
-D and Vit K, along with exercise. As my scan is worse than it was 3 years ago (-2.6 then) I guess I need to go onto medication. Not happy about it though, and quite frankly, very scared about side effects.

More about Dexascan / AA / Adcal
Anyhow, my GP prescribed me AA and
Adcal
-D3 early May on basis I had been on Pred since PMR arrived in March 2021. I plucked up courage to say I would rather not take (esp) AA unless I knew it was necessary.
