My top 3 tips for staying motivated:

1. seeing older people who are fit and healthy and loving life - I want to be like that!

2. remembering how I feel when I'm not exercising

3. tell people what you are doing and get their support - you need all the support you can get (don't listen to negative messages)

Mine are:

1. Twin up with a friend doing something similar & email each other about achievements (it really spurs me on when my exercise buddy achieves one of her goals)

2. A variant on justjoyful's, I try to remember how I feel after I have exercised - that feeling of health & wellbeing that lasts for hours.

3. And finally, reward yourself - aim to buy something frivolous to wear when you find your clothes no longer fit because incredibly you do tone up quickly - this may just be a female thing but there's nothing like buying clothes a size smaller than you've been wearing for ages!

And sneaking in a fourth, enjoy (and remember) the compliments that you get after you've been exercising a while. You really dont want to let all that hard work go to waste by going back to being a couch potato.
