Scientific research into the benefits of strength training in the elderly

I came across this during my research today into muscle strength in the elderly c(>60). I think most people know that resistance training is beneficial but the benefits are significant in the older population.

It’s a bit long but if you jump to the results section you can get a very good summary of the benefits.

All those squats bridges and press ups count then? And are worth it

Absolutely Sola. 👍 And even better if you can do the squats with weights.

Yes, well I guess runs if beans might work, or soup, I have weighted ankle straps that I bought years ago, forgot I had them on one day, wire them to work under my jeans, my legs ached next morning, it's diet that I need to look at, but in a reasonably healthy place really for an old girl

I really admire your speed Brian, I seem to be getting slower but don't mind me I'm feeling a bit low after this morning's run

Nah. You’ll bounce back. We all have our bad days. Just got to move on to the next run. 👍💪

Yes, sadly it’s considered elderly in some circles. In my head I’m still 16 ( reverse my numbers) 😅😂
