A Sad Day.

This morning, I have to share with you, the incredibly sad news of the death of our dear friend and fellow runner, known to so, so many as IannodaTruffe, but whose name was, Tim.

Yesterday afternoon, at home, Tim died, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family.

There is a famous quotation, stating that, the good men do is lost with them when they die; this is not true for Tim.

Hugely respected and well loved, Tim has been a constant, reassuring presence on the forums and during his years here, his words have reached and touched the lives of hundreds of runners. His sound advice, his supportive comments, his calm approach to any question asked, has, quite literally, changed lives, changed them for the better.

Tim will not be forgotten, his good, will be carried in us, with us and be shared by us, for years to come.

We shall move forward, in the way that Tim encouraged us to, with the familiar words he used at the end of all his posts in our hearts, we shall indeed...

...Keep Running, keep smiling

Oldfloss x

I do know that many of you will wish to comment or share your thoughts here. Please do. I shall, in due course, share all of those comments with Tim's family.

I mentioned on C25k how Iannodatruffe was the first coach and running mentor I had in my running journey.

But his support of my running journey helped me far beyond just running.

I feel I have been one of the very many lucky runners to have been mentored by him on our C25k forum, reading his posts allowed me to live my life that little bit better through taking care of my health and fitness a little bit more, day by day.

In the last weeks, I was thinking of him daily, and I was still amazed and awed and supported by his positive and life-affirming presence.

My fitness journey started before I came to these forums, but once I got here through the C25k forum, they were a huge, gigantic milestone, one that came with a stepchange of how to live my life well.

Learning to run is also about learning to live well, and he will remain in my thoughts for many days and runs and S&F workouts to come.

Thank you, Tim (Iannodatruffe), I have been and will remain immensely grateful for your presence.

Oh I am so sad to read this news... Although I have not been running recently (long story & not the place), Tim (thank you for including his real name) was one of my real inspirations & mentors when I started running & then as I continued... I will always think of him when I run & hope that wherever he is, he is running, with the sun shining & a cool breeze at his back... RIP 🏃🏼‍♀️💕

Always kind and always oh so practical in his help and advice, Tim was a beacon to many of us. I’m glad his advice was in writing, as it will go on being available to new and improving runners through this forum. It’s good he knew how we valued him but still a shock that now we have only the echo of his wise voice and determined spirit. Condolences to his family. 💕

I’m so sorry to read this. Tim was always such a supportive and positive part of this forum - always there with the right advice but always recognising the struggles we face and not minimising the challenge. He was supportive in my journey and that of so many others too. We’ve missed him on the forum but, as you say Oldfloss , his advice will still be here for everyone on the journey and those coming in the future. It’s an amazing legacy and I hope that it helps his family and friends at this difficult time, to know how we respected and valued his contribution but also him as a friend and mentor.

He was the voice of calm, cutting through all the confusing information to summarise what was important and what was not when starting on a running journey. His "students" on HU will miss him greatly.

This is a wonderful forum. Kind and supportive. And Tim was, for me, everything that makes it such a wonderful place. He set the tone and has left a legacy that I know we will all do our utmost to continue. Keep running, keep smiling.

I am in complete shock, this is so so sad 😞😞. His words of wisdom, advice and encouragement have been invaluable. I didn't really know him or ever meet him but I didn't need to to get the sense of the person he was. I hope his family take some comfort in seeing our comments and understand just how much he will be missed. 😢😢
