Yes, my knee gets stiff after long times of immobility, such as sleeping.

Yes I think you can, keep doing exercises. Mind, as I said, I've only had a partial replacement on the 22/11/19 and obviously still on the road to recovery. Tendons are only like elastic bands, even elastic bands become stiff and will snap. I'm a Complementary Therapist of 22 years and have Anatomy & Physiology, so do know a bit about that body system.

Ok many months on from op, knee is doing great, I’ve been doing all the exercises given by physio and since lock down had got on my exercise bike and cross trainer 👍🏻👍🏻 If it wasn’t for the ruddy heart meds causing aches n pains, I’d be great 😊

I too have woken up in the morning with a stiff knee and stiff ankles. This can happen more and more as you get older. Your tendons and muscles may be stiffening up while you sleep. Also, during the day you are moving around and the fluid in your knee lubricates your joint. At night, you don't move around nearly as much, so your knee is not as lubricated. Try stretching exercises: first in your bed and then when you get out of bed. It is also a good idea to talk to your primary care physician to get their advice and rule out ongoing arthritis or cartilage issues.

Thank you! I do stretch in bed. It does help.
