Knee pain when walking

Popping is OK but pain and instability are not. I think you should continue to walk but also do a good warm up program with your knees before you start your exercise. An exercise bike in your case would be an excellent warm-up activity and then proceed to do your walking. Start on flat ground and work your way up to a gradual incline. Follow up the exercise with knee bends to keep your flexibility. Exercise is a slow process but continuing the exercise program should offer pain relief and even some weight reduction especially if you watch your nutritional intake. Hopefully you’ll feel better for having made the effort.
Dear Jamarion9, not sure why your knees pop but knee joints will make noise, especially the knee cap rubbing on the end of the thigh bone. Walking is still very low stress to your knees so please keep moving. The movement actually helps the arthritis...and will help you lose some weight. Every 10 extra pounds results in 30-60 pounds felt by your knees, so weight is a really big factor in knee pain and arthritis. I know it can be hard when working full time but trying to build in little bits of movement during the day can really help!
Hi jamarion9. You've gotten some great advice here so please update us on how everything goes for you! I hope continued walking can help your arthritis!
