Correlation between scleroderma and Borderline Personality Disorder
I wonder what made you think of that one. Why should there be a correlation except that scleroderma does test one quite hard, so it depends what else you have had to put up with in the past (you or whoever it's about). I don't put much trust into correlations anyway.
Thank you for your reply. I read in a book that their maybe a correlation and wondered if anyone has experience of it. I have CREST syndrome, Raynauds and Sjogrens and originally was diagnosed with Hughes Syndrome. Recently I have been diagnosed as Borderline Personality Disorder, I was abused in every way as a younger child and just curious as to whether they are connected in anyway, more for my own interest in knowing. Mind and body are connected after all.
I have not heard of this, auto immune illnesses are usually or come from genes in your body, they may not come out in your generation, but start asking around and see if you can find something on this subject. Mental health illnesses also run in peoples famililies, but are not auto immune illnesses. Merry Christmas and have a great holiday season too. Susie
Thanks Suzie you have a wonderful Christmas and new year too. I will keep digging around to see what I can come up with, if anything.
I don't know about BPD but there is apparently evidence linking severe and/or prolonged childhood abuse with chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, something to do with stress and excessive levels of adrenaline over a period of time instead of the brief "fight or flight" response when it is usually required.
Okay so that could be the link in that mine carried on until 19, (the abuse) as it was normal for me I did not think anything of it until I moved away from home. I had Raynauds from a very young age, then other autoimmune disease developed and are still developing e.g. Hughes, Crest. Thank you for that, it's really helpful.
I have raynauds and bpd if it helps i have noticed alot of people with tramatic child abuse that was severe have some sort of auto immune diease
From my understanding and research there is a correlation between blood flow and hormone levels. I have bpd and pcos and am being tested for Scleroderma at the moment I display many symptoms and there’s a proven link between the condition and hypogonadism. (I studied biochemistry for a year and am doing a masters in neuropsych) hormone dysfunctions can cause many of the symptoms of bpd.
Doggo - I was 18 when I moved away from the abuse and by 24 I was diagnosed with full blown diffuse scleorderma with a life expectancy of 15 months !
Well that was 14 years ago, and the journey has certainly been no walk in the park with all of the different chemotherapies etc, however, I now know that I have defied all of the medical text books as well as I now choose to surround myself with loving energies and walk away from any abuse ! Hayhouseradio.com has really helped me with these techniques as well as the book You can heal your life by Louise Hay.
I really hope my coping strategies work for you as well, and keep reminding yourself that you do not have to be around the abuse, you deserve better
