She's had Reynaud's for years but the scleroderma was a big surprise which nearly killed her - she was taken into Eastbourne hospital not being able to breath. Her heart stopped and she had to be resusitated. Lucky for her her former Reynaud's specialist recognised her name and now she's being treated for both. I joined this forum to get an insight into the condition, as I know what's it's been like for her. I'm a clinical hypnotherapist and I read somewhere there had been success with Reynauds in influencing the cold hands by using hypnosis - I was wondering if any of the forum had experienced this?
My mum has been diagnosed with Sclero... - Scleroderma & Ray...
My mum has been diagnosed with Scleroderma.
Hi Marmitegirl
I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. What a big shock for you both and how lucky that she had a specialist who could help her.
I have Raynaud's and was thought to possibly have Scleroderma but didn't tick enough boxes so basically I have an autoimmune condition but they don't know what it is!
I can't say that I have had experience of hypnotherapy helping Raynaud's but I am going through the process of trying EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique also called Thought Field Therapy and Tapping) to see if this helps as I know it has had remarkable results for people suffering from chronic illnesses. Being a clinical hypnotherapist, you have probably heard of it.
If not, I would highly recommend trying it with your mum. It certainly can't do any harm.
I would also be very interested to know if the hypnotherapy helps your mum.
I hope your mum continues to improve.

You must have had a terrible shock when your mother was so ill. I suggest you join the Raynaud's and Scleroderma Association. You will receive their HOT NEWS which is very instructive and you can ask questions. Get to their website.
I am glad your mother is receiving the appropriate treatment. Good luck to you both.
I found out when I had scleroderma when I had a renal crisis.
Sometimes things get missed.
But hopefully now she will be getting all the necessary support. I wouldnt think hypnotism will stop the symptoms but maybe it will help her to cope with them.
It not all bad all of the time.
