I think my pain threshold has changed. I was told years ago that my pain threshold was quite high. I am a martial artist and I think I hurt more now when I get hit than I used to. I would be really interested to see what other people say on this point. In the meantime I will grin and bear it!! :-)

Im not sure if my pain threshold is less, it is more that areas that I wasn't as sensitive in are more painful to the touch then they used to be. As in my skin and muscles, my cats walking on me causes a great deal of pain as well if someone just grabs my arm, and not roughly. So maybe that is the case that there are more places that hurt then their used to be.

Emma,

Since my feet hurt 24/7, the internal stress to my body is constant and any other aches and pains I seem to feel more.

To be honest, I have a fairly high pain threshold, but I am aware of more continuous pain since I was diagnosed with Primary Raynauds 4 years ago. I find if I am cold or starting to cool down due to breeze or air conditioning (bane of my existance) then my musles & joints ache more.

As I also have Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, there is usually a degree of pain involved there, muscles & tendons overstretching or seizing up, but the combination when having a Raynaud's attack can make it several times worse. The cold just seems to make the musles seize and tendons stiffen, I think, possibly wrong, that it is the lack of blood in the muscles and heat around the tendons which is why it is more painful.

I don't think I'm getting more sensitive to it, it just seems to be hanging around longer.

And having said that my back is killing me, shoulders are sore, but iIm warm for the moment. Give it 1/2 hour and the air conditioning will switch back on and my hands & feet will be numb and typing will become difficult.

I used to have a high pain threshold but since diagnosed with CREST 4 years ago (had Raynauds since early teens) the pain levels are increasing. There is also osteoarthritis and Fibro so maybe it's inevitable.

It is definitely possible to handle the increasing pain levels and still enjoy life!!!

I wasn't sure if feeling more pain was a result of getting older, but maybe it is the Scleroderma.
