Sjogren's Syndrome!!!!
I know how you feel, I had to fill in a form the other day and list all my illness'. Wow is it getting long these days. All as a result of the Scleroderma, but still what a list! My Sjogren's always seems to act up at night, I wake up with my eyes feeling like I have glass in them and I can't open them due to pain. I have found if I remember to put my drops in before I go to sleep, that I get it less frequently. And I have a saline based spray that I spary in my mouth, that helps a great deal with the dryness, as well as the mucus I get at night. Never knew that the mucus in my throat at night was caused by the Sjogren's until about two months ago, I always thought it was something to do with my sinus'.
Hi uknlv
Now, thats interesting about the mucus I get that as well. My eyes are not as bad as yours but do get very gritty, dry and sore I too have drops for eyes and spray, pastilles and god knows what else to put in my mouth.... YUK !!!! xx
It is good that you have a proper diagnosis but it must be frustrating - you find and deal with one thing and then something else crops up. I hope the treatment can minimise any problems you have.
Hi uknlv. I know what you mean about the list of illnesses - mine got longer today too!
I've had secondary Sjorgren's for about 6 years. I've found that the gel for the mouth is much better than the saliveze spray. Simple things like sipping water and chewing gum also helps.
For the eyes, good eye hygiene is important - it's one part of my routine that keeps me in the bathroom for longer! My eyes got really bad a few years ago and I developed some other eye conditions (not sure if it was related to the Sjorgren's). Under control now! As well as drops (artificial tears), lacri lube is quite greasy but highly recommended (use it when you go to bed).
