Thats so rubbish i really hate it when doctors dont understand.
I am with you on the nifedipine thing - i cant take it either because of the side effects but i would litterally do anything to not have constant rayanuds pain.
Cant your rheumy not prescribe you something else there are lots of nautural treatments to try to. there is loads out there you just have to find the right thing for you.
I dont speak to my gp about raynauds anymore they really dont understand (which si fair enough as they have loads of stuff to know about so its understandable that they are not experts on everything). however they should put you in touch with a specalist.
I once had a gp tell me to wear gloves as his reallly cunning way to help my severe chilblanes (i wish it was that simple). that is when i stopped going to the gp beacuse like you i came out really frustrated.
have yu been on the official raynauds website they have lots of good things on there to.
Sounds as if you have had a terrible time. Don't let 1 person destroy your confidence. Try another gp to see how you get on. Tell them that you were not satisfied with the care that you received on your previous visit. You deserve better care than that. take care.
thank you all for your replys and i ve made another appt with another gp .. so fingers crossed.. if that doesn t go well then god knows what .. i would love to have natural treatment etc but i just dont have the money for anything .. as all my money goes on my children ... tried dla as i cant wrk .. due to having soo many attacks etc ...
To start with you should report the doctors for neglect to your primary health care trust my doctor told me if the nifedapine didn't help he would find something else for me hpe you have more luck with the new doctor sounds like you need it.As for the DLA they are a lot harder i just been turned down i have just started to lobby my MP
Don't cry, and yes, take the advice to get a new ie better gp. My body hates taking meds. My doc suggested I trying spraying nitro-lingual spray on my fingers/hands. I do this when I feel the painful distressing symptoms building. It offers[me] very good, fast alleviation, without the drowsiness of tablets.
I refused to take that drug because it is contraindicated for kidneys. Also I have normal to low BP. I started taking Niacin (the kind that flushes) and worked my way up in dosage. It has helped. My rheumatologist fired me in a letter lol
