Hello Dudman1984. I get severe pain sometimes on both hips, but particularly my left hip. This is on the outside of the hip with a real 'point' that is very very tender, both in daytime particularly after sitting for a while and often so painful at night it is difficult to lie on it.

In my case this is Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome and I was initially given physio which eradicated it. May also be called a hip bursitis but most is now considered to be GTPS. There are assorted exercises on these sites and many others.

As is often the case, I have neglected my physio and it is starting to come back, so I must buckle down to my exercises again.

This condition is not unique to Scleroderma. Anyway, hope you get to the bottom of it.

you seem very young to be getting hip pain from wear and tear, have the offered any treatment? Was it diagnosed by a rheumatologist if not you should ask to see one.

Yeah I know and my actual scleroderma consultant said wear and tear so I have to go to my gp to get referred as it’s getting to the point I can’t walk on one side and the pain paracetamol doesn’t cut it 😬

You are always entitled to a second opinion so it’s worth looking into hospitals in you area and asking your gp to refer you. If you are anywhere near bath there rheumatology dept is excellent. Good luck.
