I have recently suffered from a pelvic prolapse and wondered if any one else had had the same experience and been told it was caused by Sysyemic Sclerosis connective tissue damage?

Pelvic prolapse connection to Systemic Sclerosis?
Hum - thinking scleroderma can cause prolapses because parts inside get scarred and the adjoining areas get over stretched as consequence? I’m being investigated soon for prolapse up in colon but have a cystocele as well - hard tight urethra too they say. Not sure dots not joined up yet.
Hi Skivell,
I had a pelvic prolapse about two years ago. It coincided with lots of other symptoms, worsening urine retention, SIBO amongst others. My rheumatologist believes it’s all related to my UCTD has progressed to limited Systemic Sclerosis (Scleroderma). I looked in to having an operation but the Scleroderma clinic didn’t want me to unless no alternative. I now have a pessary. I must admit I tend to swing between all Scleroderma and possibly prolapse caused by childbirth giving me digestive and bladder problems. But I’ve read on this forum others have had the op and the prolapse happens again after a year or so. My slow transit/SIBO is now quite bad and they found evidence of Gastroparesis so I think the rheumatologist are probably right. I hope they sort it out for you soon.
