COVID 19 Vaccination

Has anyone who is taking an immune suppressing tablet (like Mycophenylate), heard whether it is okay to have the new vaccination. I'm sure I heard recently that those with compromised immune systems would be better waiting for the Oxford one. Thanks.

Hi, I had a conversation with my specialist nurse this week. She said the Pfizer vaccine would be ok for me but looks like the Astra zeneca/oxford might not be cos it has live vaccine, but they are waiting for the full details to be sure. I'm on 2000mg MMF with systemic sclerosis. It's still really early days so please don't read this as set in stone I think our medical teams are still getting the details before they can decide. I suggest you ring your specialist team if you have one cos we're all so different. Hope this helps

Thanks so much, got them the wrong way round then! Yes, nothing with a live vaccine, shingles jab for example. Not under Royal Free anymore , rheumy specialist retired in summer and no check ups with this Covid around. I have limited Scleroderma and only on 500 mg MMF a day. Will keep watching the news, thanks for your help. Hope you can enjoy Christmas.
