I have been taking doxycycline for over two weeks and my finger is still infected. What do I do now? I didn't try the nitro paste bcause i am scared that it will give me serious side effects. Please give me some advice.

Ulcers are the worst. Do you have access to wound care. I am in Washington state. I went to wound care for 6 months with my first ulcer and only 3 for my second after the lessons I learned. The used a cream called santyl to keep it from building up and the gave me lidocaine gel for pain while I cleaned the wound and prescription antibiotic cream. I had to keep it covered so it wouldn’t dry out and change the dressing 2 times a day. I upped all my meds (nifedipine and sildinefil) to max dishes for increased circulation and kept my hands warm as possible with a hot pack. Took forever but they did heal. Hope it feels better soon. Mine were worse at night and made it hard to sleep from the nerve pain

Hi Ziva girl, thank you for replying. I have been to the Dr twice and will call again for help. My wound is healing somewhat, but feels tight when uncovered. I put a mitten on it last night. It helped somewhat. I will let you know what happens.

Hi there, speak to your GP or Consultant (whoever prescribed the antibiotics), tell them there is still an infection and you need a prolonged course, or an alternative antibiotic. Ideally it would be helpful for someone to see your finger, but things are tricky at the moment and you don't want to put yourself at risk. It might just need a bit longer treatment wise. Always good to go for the easiest option first.

All my best

Lucy xx

My rheumatologist always asks me to ring her if I get any finger ulcers

So maybe that would be something you could do. All the best x
