Saw rheumatologist this am , sent me for xray of fingers to be followed up by mri scan. To have urgent Iloprost infusions and has started me on Sildenafil. Is anyone taking this? does it work and are there any side effects. Bit concerned as enclosed leaflet says not to be taken by women!
Thanks for all replies to earlier post

Hi, I have been having regular Iloprost infusions for past two years , since being on Slidenifil I have now stopped the Iloprost as I was not tolerating the Iloprost as well as I was.(didn't take the siidenafil whilst having Iloprost though )..I have not suffered any side effects.from the Slidenifil I saw my rheumatologist two weeks ago and she was really pleased at the way my hands were. As she said it is the best she has seen them in a long time.I am on 50mg three times a day. Hope they work for you.Good luck.
I take Sildenifil and it works best for me. Slight (very slight) headache at the start, but in less than one week, no more headaches. This medication has proved to be far more effective (for me) than others. You have nothing to lose by trying it.
I never used this medication very wise of you to look up any medication that maybe prescribed by your doctor I found out sometimes its not good for you. Just because they suggested a medication does not make it right for you I found that out by looking up many medications and found out they do more harm to me than good. Sometimes you have to become your own doctor in a sense.
I take a drug very similar to this for my Raynauds and it really helps, consultants do not prescribe these things unless necessary and it is very important to weigh up the benefits against what are only 'potential' side effects.
Hello, I used to have Iloprost, but didn't tolerate it well. I now take Sildenafil, which helps a little, much better to tak a tablet than have a cannula inserted. I am female. I believe it is now cheaper than Iloprost! Sorry for delay in replying I have been on holiday.
Thanks. Have just had week of Iloprost didn, t tolerate it well this time. When I had it last November wasn't so bad and had some improvement over winter. Now back on Sildenafil so will see how that goes. Seeing Rheumatologist again in 3 weeks.
