I take sildenifil for secondary raynauds disease and am also trying for a baby. If you have been in this situation what was the advice you were given from medical professionals?
I have been advised to continue taking it until I find out I am pregnant...but that slightly worries me still. I'd be keen to find out what advice is provided in different areas/from different doctors. Thank you!

Hi there, I had a little look at some of the research and information on this drug and pregnancy for you. It seems there is very little known about the effects of it in pregnancy because there are no adequate or well controlled studies (basically because they haven't got a big population of people who are on the drug and pregnant to look at).
I also note that there are some studies where this drug is used in pregnancy as a new approach to treat fetal growth restriction (FGR) and preeclampsia.
I think if you are considering getting pregnant then talk to your Rheumatologist first off (if you have one) and your Obstetric team...or obviously you may have a GP who has some knowledge. If you take this drug because you have Raynauds in association with scleroderma or any other connective tissue disease then you will need to have careful screening and monitoring throughout the pregnancy as there are certain autoantibodies that can have an impact on your pregnancy and new born baby which are much more important than the Sildenafil.
Thanks Lucy for taking the time to reply. Yes I have done all that you have suggested and it does seem to be an under researched area. I do have a great medical team involved but sometimes its nice to be able to hear experiences from other patients too! Thank you x
